False Loan Application?

False Loan Application?I received a letter in the mail from Wachovia Bank thanking me for my "recent interest" in a Wachovia loan. It says to complete the review they need a little more information and it gives me a number to call. It does not seem like a pre-approval letter because of the wording. IE it says also "Please call us...within 15 days so that we can give you an answer to your REQUEST for a loan".
I never actually requested a loan. It gives me a number to call and when I call they told me it seems like a loan application has been initiated but not completed. Then they gave me the name and number of the intiating "financial specialist" and when I call that it is a disconnected number. Does anyone know what I should do to protect my credit score and also avoid someone taking out a loan in my name? Thanks for any advice!
