This is very sad. If I had my guess, I'd say she took her eyes off the road for a second to adjust the heater or tune the radio or look at her phone, and all it takes is a second. Condolences and prayers to the family.

Matt, I wouldn't think little katie's family would be reading this stuff at this time...and I do agree with what has been said about a lack of attention while driving.....at 70 MPH it takes less than a split second to be in a serious crash...

Key words in the story: she overcorrected. Remember folks, should you find yourself in his situation, DO NOT SNATCH THE WHEEL. Bring it back deliberately and safely or you run he risk of going out of control as this unfortunate woman did.

Not always pretty, but that's how news is presented in a free society. NBC 29 reports it as it sees it. Not sugarcoated, censored, modified. Outstanding coverage from these folks. They don't sensationalize news like some of their big brothers.

Why else would she drive off the left side of the road? No one would do that on purpose or while paying attention, so that leaves momentary distraction of some kind (or falling asleep)- maybe the music or heater, or phone, or maybe she heard something, or dropped something, or was startled by something. We may never know. This is beyond tragic, but it's also a good opportunity to remind people that the faster you're going, the less leeway you have to take your eyes off the road for even a second. Nothing good comes from a tragedy like this unless we find some good - some utility to others, to prevent another loss, or urge others to be cautious.

And - please, stop looking for a reason to be offended. That post wasn't in poor taste. Accept the condolences, and understand that people - all people - feel a need to find a reason, a cause, an explanation for tragedies like this.

Some people just can't keep their mouths shut about politics I don't care the situation. When I read the story my only thoughts were for this poor young woman gone too soon and the family she leaves behind. Blessings to all.
