I recently got hired, then fired a week and a half later, at a restaurant in my neighborhood. Why? According to the restaurant, a customer called and complained that I smelled bad. funny thing is, I have very good personal hygeine, showered, used deoderant, toothpaste, etc, on a daily basis, and I know I didn't smell bad. The thing is, everyone at this restaurant is chinese, and I am biracial. They made it very clear to me that they didn't like black people, before I told them that I was part black. They told me that if anyone called for delivery that sounded even slightly black, to tell them that we don't deliver. They also told me that they prefer not to wait on black people. They seemed very pleased with my performance on the job before I told them I was black, but by the second week there, they brought in a young asian man to train for my position. They told me that this would not effect my job. Yet two days later, I was fired. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts, and if you have had any similar experiences. Thanks

Name the restaurant so we don't support them.

Not to doubt you at all, but there are 2 sides or more to every/any story. It could be that you were working for a total jerk. On the other hand, there is no need for an employer to state a reason for termination.
Not doubting you, just wondering what the rest of the story is.
But like Steve, I would boycott your past employer if your story is true.

I agree with Pops. Name the restaurant and I will boycott it.

I would like to name the restaurant, but am afraid of libel suits, and I currently have the civil rights commision and the U.S department of labor investigating this place. I will say that it is an asian restaurant on the corner of Woodburn and Madison. ;)

I used to service food equipment and I delivered Chinese food sometime later.
As a group, I found them to be the most racist. If they didn't need you or want you, you might as well be dust on top of the door.
Whenever they were handed a repair bill, they ALWAYS argued it. So much so that they were ALL C.O.D. so that they couldn't stop payment on a check.
I happen to work about 5-6 traffic lights from that place.

They have a different slant on things. It's a slippery slope. Don't let it take a chink out of your armor, Pops.

It is no more okay for you to write your racist comments such as this than it is for them to discriminate against this other guy at the work site. That's part of the problem in American society. A sense of entitlement based on skin color and ignorance. Like it or not not, realize it or not, Caucasians are the minority in certain communities right now and within twenty years Caucasians will will be the minority across the board. If you doubt what I say I suggest you don your homework and know what you're talking about. I hope for your sake that the soon to be majority race will not treat you with the same disregard when the time comes.

Just for kicks another little fact. When it comes to faith based comments and opinions, white "Christians" are also not a majority. Islam and Catholicism are much larger by the numbers.

But no matter what the facts, racism on the job site or anywhere else in society is ignorance. I would like to see a day when none of us practice racism and realize that it is just a little tool to keep the masses at each other's throats while the people at the top screw us all over.

I believe the Coptics had them beat by a couple of centuries. Catholics are technically polytheists.

One could NOT have been Christian before Christ existed. What are you trying to spin & why?
Please explain your 'polytheists' comment.

The Coptics followed Christ from the time he walked the earth. You cannot get closer than that. As for the polytheists comment, Catholics pray to multiple Deities, that makes them "polytheist" by definition. They are also idolaters, but that's another story. Theologically speaking, Catholics rate right up there (or maybe down there) with Mormons.

I have to disagree. I have attended Roman Catholic, Episcople, Methodist, Pentacostle, Hebrew & various other Baptist services MANY times each. I haven't attended any Mormon services (no interest) but have a few Mormon friends.
The one that you & others are most in error of is that Catholics worship 'false idols'. Besides being wrong, it is petty non-christian propaganda. It is unchristian like to lie & unintelligent to ignorantly spread falsehoods.
I have worked very closely with TWO PHD graduates of Asbury Theological Seminary & NEITHER one of them would talk the crap that you do.
IF you are a reverend as you pose yourself to be, you must have been sponsored as compared to being formally schooled. YOU & those like you are a danger to the written word & the beliefs of others.
I personally am non-denomonational & respect EVERYONE'S freedom to worship as they choose.
I also believe that if a Catholic bishop, Angelican Bishop & a Rabbi sat down to dinner & talked religion, they would agree to respect each other's beliefs without denigration.
So you need to learn what you are talking about about others & more importantly, respect the right of others to believe what faith they have OR YOU invite the same treatment on yourself.
In addition, if one 'googles' BIBLES, you will find at least 19 different bibles. Even the Lords Prayer is NOT the same in each of them.
YOUR non-benevolent intolerant attitude could make you a sinner. Think about this post. It is meant in all candor & more honesty than you have posted.

Listen to yourself! Or reread your posts. 1st you say that Coptics followed Christ centuries before Christ was born?? When I called you on that you Then you say that they followed him since he walked the earth. BOTH can not be true. That is impossible.
I suggest that you keep your fingers off of the keyboard so that your ignorance, bias & stupidity doesn't show.
