Jenny James, the church was struggling to stay alive. The Pastor and other Pastors from different churches met for coffee once a week and the Catholic in the group explained that their churches have done quite well with a weekly bingo (50+ years), annual festival and a Monte Carlo. During the Lenten season they have Friday Fish Fry with moderate gambling. About five pastors meet every week and the Catholic fellow got the others to think about it. Baptist said no. Others agreed to let the Penecostal try the idea. It has done quite well. The Catholics are among the oldest religions, so they must be doing something right. Before you are too quick to judge visit one of the weekly church festivals in Cincinnati. Have a bratwurst and a beer. Let the kids on a few rides. Just try Big-6 or Black Jack. Those people have been doing this for years.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed].Rev -If these churches are struggling to stay alive it is because they are not preaching the word of God ,because their is life in the word ,The word makes alive ,Don,t you see what you are telling the young people in the church that it,s ok to live like the world And the world is an enemy to God ,we are in this world but not of the world do you understand you better read a KJV Bible it will tell you the right way to live ,drinking is wrong gambling wordly lust is all sin and no sin will enter into heaven ,Do you want these people to be deceived by what you are teaching them their blood will be on your hands ,And the bible says call no man father on this earth for you have but one father ,Our Father in heaven ,no one can save you only Jesus ,No other name can you be saved ,The Son of God died for you ,You need to repent ,

16Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty

Personally, I don't consider bingo for a charitable purpose "gambling". A person 'goes in' KNOWING that the House (of God) will benefit from the event & that is what it is for, the benefit of spreading the word of God AND for charitable purposes. That is NOT gambling. Bingo is a social gathering for the benefit of Christiananity. What could be wrong with that?.

Exodus 20:3-5King James Version (KJV)

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

12And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. 13If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,God don,t want His children partaking in the worldy lust ,God is not in this junk open your eyes and see and your ears that you may hear ,

With all respect, you & people like you are the pestilence. WE should respect ALL religions that do NOT disrespect other religions.

13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Here's what I see/read in your posts. NOTHING that makes a game of bingo a sin.
If I may....gambling is considered a vice thusly a sin.(Gods word as you seem to imply)
I was proposing that IF the participants use a game of bingo as a fund raiser going in, it is NOT gambling since the participants KNOW that any & ALL funds raised will benefit those in need & NOT themselves, it is NOT a sin !!
It can be a fun & social way of doing exactly that. How can that be wrong?
You can call me 'rev' if you want but I need to let you & your over focused intolerant mind know, that I do NOT denigrate the beliefs of others. Each is entitled to their own way following.
What IF & WHEN judgement day comes & YOU find out that only Hindu's go to heaven, or Jews, or Druids? OR those that are tolerant of the way that OTHERS worship God? Where would that put YOUR closed mind & HEART. What happened to Love Thy Neighbor.
Google "bibles" & see how many bibles there are.
Faith is VERY VERY personal & Bibles all say; judge not least ye be judged. Follow that one sweety!
