Our local communist newspaper has decided it is okay to publish the personal information of private citizens under the guise of public records on its website. First it was the names and addresses of legal gun permit holders, and now the salary info of all MLGW employees. This is not reporting, but rather spinelss harassment of private citizens by a propaganda unit of the Communist party known as The Commercial Appeal.I urge all citizens of the metro area to cancel your subscriptions and stop buying the paper until Joseph Pepe and Chris Peck learn to leave law abiding citizens alone.Harassment was a tool used by Joe Stalin but it will come back to bite Joe Pepe. Citizens of Memphis Unite!!!

Why would one expect some burned out beach bum to know about our local newspaper's disrespect for law abiding citizens right to privacy. It may be part of public record but give easier access to private information to low lifes. This paper does not have the cojones to publish similar information about criminals, nor has it done so to other divisions of local government. So Mr. On the Beach let's see your salary info and name and address published on a web site and let's see who feels like a box of rocks. You are obviously a democrat who lives in a world of fantasy like our newspaper publisher. You don't even live here so keep out of our business!!!

WOW. Hot topix for sure.
Publication of such personal data is close to violating civil rights laws. Undoubtedly the ACLU will be here in force.
Not sure as to the background on all this, but the passion is sure there.
More to the point. We are viewing the end result on our own doorstep, of the pervasive inroads of Goverment control of the MSM. We watch it every nite on TV, listen on FM and some AM stations. We, the USA Electorate need despartely to do as old John Wayne implored his Cowboys. LISTEN TIGHT, DAYLIGHT IS BURNING>

Once the weekend celebrating our hard fought freedoms is put to rest, it is a clarion call in the coming days to guard against the erosion of our privacy by the hate-mongers in charge of the local newspaper. Communists such as Publisher Joe Pepe and Editor Chris Peck wish to invoke fear and hatred among private citizens with their scare tactics. If they publish our salaries, names and addresses without fear of reprisal, who will they turn on next? Cancel your subscription to The Commercial Appeal and let's put them out of business so we can get ourselves a real daily newspaper.

Personnaly, I do my News reviews on line. The CNS and other Net Work news has better coverage, less bias, and does a much better job of Local news coverage. The Commercial appeal used to be called the Comic Apple years. ago.

hey Uncle Stupid..

btw....ever heard about people who live in more than just one place ?

what a retard

I will say that the "Comical Appeal" is one of the worse papers of any city that I live in, or have lived in......but frankly the citizens deserve it- the 'inferiority' that is....and by your comments, you are indicative of the 'problem'.

On The Beach is your typical liberal who can only resort to name calling because they have no solid ideas to offer. OTB does not even have the balls to live in this town and therefore should not worry about our problems. Oh Yeah, I know that people live in more than one city, and that could mean that you are homeless, white trash, a fugitive, unwanted by your family, or just plain lost.

On The Beach has some pent up anger cuz daddy loved him a bit too much. His 'opinions' are inconsequential. He's the boy that cried wolf. Eventually everybody stops listening and whatever he is going on about falls on deaf ears. He just doesn't get it. Him enrolling in a class in remedial sales and marketing would do wonders for his cause.

The Commie Appeal needs to go under!!! They don't report any news, just pick on law abiding citzens because they are cowards. If they publish my personal information like that I'd have my corporate attorney on them before the ink on their daily news(toilet)paper dries.

Name calling and purposely insulting or talking down to others are typical manifistations of an insecure personality.

By belittling others, the belittler achieves a false sense of superiority that, on some level, he/she experiences a temporary negatation of his/her own insecurity.

The unfortunate by-product of this type of personality is that, much like a cocaine or other drug addiction, the belittler needs to continue belittling in order to "feel good" about themselves. The "user" gets caught in a viscious circle that can only be exited by making a conscious effort to do so.

So, until people like On The Beach make a conscious decision to change, then his/her own posts will only serve to feed his/her addiction. Unpleasent for us bystanders, but there is nothing you or I can do about it.

Thank you for your insight into that beach person. A very thoughtful and intelligent observation on a very sad and delusional person. We here in Memphis have serious problems to discuss and have no time for a child to butt in with their worthless thoughts.

Re the Commercial Appeal, again. There is one common denominator about printed news, the cost. If one does not like or has issues with the paper, don't buy the d... thing.
OR if you really get upset, WRITE a letter, get it published, post your comments here, DO SOMETHING, other than listen to and adhere to the folks from cities who also have there like problems.
MFS is a rough, ready and rowdy, river city. Always has been, always will be. It takes big Cahones to live near a river that will swamp you as soon as you look the other way.

Thank you Tenn Slim for the very astute observation about the CA. If you don't like it don't buy it. In my place of work over 90% of my co- workers have cancelled their subs in the last few months. Hurt them where they sit and maybe they will wise up. Also this a very hard town to survive in and you have to alert at all times. It's about survival of the fittest and one day the CA is going to pick on the wrong group and become extinct very quickly.

Ray...
A good observation. Mfs is indeed a tough town. Not only to work in, but to visit, to do the tourist thing etal. One never knows for sure how one will be received. Generally, I have noted, if you are open and decent, even down on Highland street, it is not a venture into gangland. You should and most do, exhibit confidence and not fear. Mfs folks have dealt with untold difficulties and survived. They will and do, to this day.

Topix and like news ON LINE sources will eventually replace the printed sources, My Opine. Likewise the MSM, as we note the ratings falling.
Now. Printing data from sources that are open, public and acessible is just the latest in a long series of technology changes that affect our lives. ID theft, and like stuff are the results.
