cumberland has dried up because the 2 cities (benham and lynch) made it what it once was. when the mines in benham and lynch closed down cumberland crashed.
As I recall, the mines that Arch last operated was on Cloverlick, not in Lynch. I don't really even remember mining in Lynch. I do remember the one in Benham, where it is now, but it is not in the Benham city limits, and neither was the Harvester Mine! Many worked at Westmoreland Jerico, and Scotia as well. If Benham and Lynch was so big, why can't I remember it? I'm only 55 so I guess i missed it. I been going through there since the 60's and it still looks the same as always. Cumberland had a business in every store in town then. Most towns went out because of things called malls, and Wal Marts, and other stores. Not because of the great Benham and Lynch. BOZO!

in the good old day when Cumberland was booming most of that was due to Benham and Lynch supporting the town businesses, now that Benham and Lynch are no longer booming towns Cumberland has gone to ruin, so don't try to convince anyone that Cumberland is the better of the tri-cities because it falls way short.
