This seems like a harsh punishment for not being able to prove he spent the money. People take their work home all the time. A lot of people do a lot worse, and don't spend a day in jail.
Is there more to this story? Did this officer do any good for the community? What else do he do?

He did absolutely nothing for the community, but lie and have sex with drug dealers. He stole the evidence and never charged the 13 people that he wanted all the recognition for arresting. Look up the other stories on here. Police Chief Arrests 13 on Drug Charges-Chris Wade is his name, google him and see for yourself. Also he lied about ever being arrested when he was appointed police chief. Most police don't hide drugs and money from busts in their childrens bedroom closets.

Did he have sex with the drug dealers while on the job?
