OK TP's I'm looking for one who knows how to troubleshoot a variety of units Carrier, Lennox Trane, etc. Just about any fool can clean, gas or change out a unit. The cast of characters in Otown are all subpar & will charge you an arm and a leg. They are good at buying units for example at $1500 from a wholesaler then charging you $2500 for it then $1500-$2000 to install it. Nice racket for a day or two of work! Now remember the focus is on troubleshooting. They do not have to be from Osceola probably better that they are not!!! I've used most of the characters here & am not impressed by any means.

If it so easy do it yourself. Have you priced parts an freon lately? People have to make aliving too an this is not all profit like you make out. Those A.C. Subpar you talk about are probably tired of your cheapness too. Nobody can work cheap anymore an would like to be paid when the job is done accordingly.

One consideration is the cost of doing business. You know, the boring stuff that most people don't think about. Licenses, insurance, taxes, education, tools, trying to collect fees from people who wrote bad checks, workers compensation, payroll taxes, advertising, phones, trucks, fuel for trucks, insurance for trucks, tires for trucks. You know, all that stuff that we don't really need but we buy anyway so that we can do a job for you and all the while listen to you complain how we are ripping you off...
Sorry, had to vent for a minute, pay no attention to the man working behind the curtain...

People don't want to pay for the service they get is why the folks like Bob are talking. The things he mentioned is all part of the job. You wouldn't go to Walmart an walk out without paying the full bill. You can't live on I.O.U.'s. All A.C. repairman aren't ripping you off. Lots of folks are getting out of the business because of all the bellaching an saying your to high an subpar. Surely you don't think we can work for free.

It is amasing how people think that you are suppose to work for free when you own your business..We are friends you shouldn't charge me. How many of you go to your job and say hey I will work for free today?!? 0 because they owe you even if you sat on your ass all day. Well this our job and it is done when it's 180 in attics and freezing in the winter not to mention crawling under houses. The problem is you want to stay cool and warm but you think it should be free to keep you this way!!!!!

I am in the same boat. We moved into a place and we turned the heater on to let the house warm up 5 hours later it went from 50 to 52 LOL. I asked the person who owned it before if they used the heater they said no because it eats up electricity and showed me a bill for 700 dollars and they said they just had it set on 56 in the winter. I asked why did you not call an HVAC man? I got no response so I am looking for one now too. You can walk to every room in the house reach up and feel the vent after an hour of running and it is about 5 degrees warmer than the 50 in the home. SO I am in the market :)

The builder had the a/c heating guy put the wrong type system in for your house to begin with. They find one dented on sale from the wholesaler, rebuilt & sell as new or heaven forbid put a stupid heat pump system in for this area of the country. Good luck!!

Ok so I have to ask...whats wrong with a heat pump in this area? They are designed to be more energy efficient and also from all your comments it seems like you know everything so why are you looking for someone to troubleshoot? Im being serious when I ask because I do HVAC/R trouble shooting everday.

Heat pumps don't work as well in this part of the country.

I really like my heat pump. Especially in summer--my bill is a lot less. Sometimes in winter if it gets really cold and windy my heat pump has to work a little harder but I find it worth it. Most times we have more HOT summers than we have really COLD winters.

Heat pumps with a gas forced air back up instead of resistance heat strips work great here.
To the other post, how does a heat pump help in the summer?
