Two children viciously murdered, along with their mother and the family dog. A scene so disturbing and violent that crime scene technicians with 30 years experience call it the worst they've ever seen.

Now lets see....three dead people and a dead dog. A stranger found hiding in the house...hummmmm, even the Lutz police ought to be able to piece this puzzle together. What a sick society we live!

We do indeed live in a sick society, but this man could have been hiding from whomever killed the others. Wait for all of the facts.

How disgusting that this happens right here in our own backyards. What has this world come to that someone can mutilate a woman and her two small children and dog? I hope the person or persons responsible for this are found, tortured and killed. They don't deserve the dignity of a trial and sentencing.

And this is what happens when we have so many bleeding hearts, that never actually get rid of or do anything with these heinous people.

I feel so sorry for those victims, and their family. God help us!

So are we convinced yet that serious action needs to be taken against these individuals when caught? Instead of letting them live on forever????

Hang'em, shoot'em, or euthanize them.... which ever... they are all effective methods.

Personal opinion only, but I'm betting that the guy they found was either a husband or boyfriend of the woman and that more than likely he was involved in their deaths. I could be wrong, but after spending several years as an emergency services worker, I saw far too many similar incidents. My prayers are with the victims, but also with the emergency services people and crime scene workers who are having to deal with this; I can tell you, nothing affects these people as deeply as the death of children.

Well if he was hiding from the killer what does that say about him as a man? Get scared and go hide and not defend your family?

I too (personal opinion only) think he is involved and what better way for an insanity defense than go straight to the hospital?

Prayers to the family and I hope whoever did this rots.

It has become so terrible to read the news now. What has this world become? Remember when no one would lock their door? It has become all to real that days like that are dead and gone. It gives me great pain that this poor family had to endure this grave tragedy. My prayers are with them and I truly hope they catch the person or persons involved in this.

Edward Allen Covington is the man they found in the closet. He was her live in boyfriend. This according to TBO.

If the police do not suspect the guy they found hiding in the closet, perhaps he is mentally or physically handicapped. For the family to be so brutally killed, sounds like a crime of passion (as in intense emotions), that the killer would even kill the family dog. The report did say that the guy hiding was "associated with the family" so that could mean known family friend, not just a boyfriend. Since they have not positively identified the bodies yet, they haven't mentioned whether she was single, married, separated, or divorced, so it would be difficult to tell who the guy in the closet even might be.
My prayers for the woman's mother & remaining family members & friends.

Read the other news sites and it gives a lot more info. Like they were killed early Sunday morning, they were basically cut up and the guy told them he had "swallowed" an unkown substance. Too bad he did not die. The coward.

10 you need to update the story.

SPT is reporting that the live in boyfriend was who was found hiding in the closet. Apparently there was a prior incident where he killed and mutilated three cats - no charges were brought against him in that crime.

Had the man hiding in the closet overdosed on drugs? Where did the woman meet the man? These are two questions that need to be answered.

I know this is sick. If someone will mutilate an animal it will not be long until it is people.

According to SPT he took some unknown substance and eys he was her live in boyfriend. She met him online. Prayers to her family.

What I don't get is you won't release the names, but have no problem showing their picture? What kind of responsible journalism is that? Anyone who knows them is going to recognize them by the pictures.(And her name was given out on the radio this morning).

I can't help but read this story and be sick inside for those 2 innocent children caught up in the mess. Like everyone else, I'm just piecing together the story as different facts come in. But if it's true that the guy found in the trailer was her live-in boyfriend, that she met on the internet, and that he had something to do with these murders...then I sincerely hope and pray other single moms will read this story and think twice about who they let in their home and around their kids.
I see young single moms struggling to make ends meet and lonely....and they do things that ultimately put their kids in harms way: like bring one guy after another into their home, let the men "babysit" their kids and find out the guy's molesting them, or worse case scenario get caught up with a crazy guy who ends up killing them all.
Please ladies...keep your kids number one in your life and stop worrying about whether you're going to be single forever. Because your kids don't get to have a say in the matter. They need you to be looking out for them!

I hope everyone reads your post, this is so important, we tend to go a little mental and find the need for money surpasses the need for safety and security, believing these things won't happen to you because your a good judge of character puts you in the worst position of all, your children should always come first
