let's not forget who the victim is here. and i'm sure ms. jopek will never sign anything again without reading it completely.
unfortunately, this is one more contractor who is giving a bad name to all contractors. let this be a reminder to anyone looking at building an addition or doing other work to their home. check the contractor's license, status, and complaint history with the state of Florida. then ask for and call their references. use this website address, click on search, on the next page, under "organization" type in Eagle Development, and click search again, find the right link, then find the "View License Complaint" and your eyes will see their whole awful history. https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.asp... |

i am a contractor and i can tell you that homeowners are not always right. unfortunately DBPR or BBB or any other organization never prints the good stuff. this company has been licensed in the state of florida since 1987, i don't think their report looks that bad. if you look up any contractor you'll find complaints. i know i have complaints some valid but must not. lets not forget that on the news they said that the company would do what ever it took to make these peolpe happy. in regard to the victime "ms jopek" look at the top of the page it says plan as day CONTRACT and the contractor gave her a cashiers check for $5000.00. that was what she gave him. how would that hurt her credit if she takes the check and gives it to her finance comapny. i think channel 10 news sucks for airing this segment. i don't see what harm has been done here.

This company did work for me and they did a great job. They went beyond and above what they had to do,and I could not have ask for nicer people to work with. If the contractor oferred to make every thing right what is the big deal. Channel 10 has did A huge unjust to this company. Because they did not do there homework, this company has lost a valuable resource
to keep their emplyees working. In todays market we don't need more people out of A job. If this was the intention of your televison station and the intention of the customer filing the complaint I guess you have suceeded.I am really disappointed in your television station. There are always two sides to A story. |

You rock Fay! Maybe you should call Deeson or fax him with your positive words. If Eagle is Lucky maybe Deeson will do a follow up story to help fix some of the destruction that they have created for this company. I am still in college and haven't been in the workforce yet, but it really scares me when I see things like this. Anybody can be a victim like Eagle. There are alot of evil people out there. I mean what was the basis of this except to be mean. Mean people Suck!! Watch out scary old ladies, karma is a bitch.

has everyone forgotten that it is against the law to work without a licence.and this man told mrs robinson that the job was completed. if it wasnt for the holes in her ceiling she would have never of known.wait till the next hurricane comes and all these people think that they are protected and their not.eagle development should know better.they have been around for a long time.they know that they need to be licenced and pull permits.its the law.he should lose his licence.and to top it off the man has theives working for him.everyone should be aware, and learn from this.

What? I didn't read anything that said that Eagle was done. What are talking about Bryana? Eagle has stated that they weren't done and they wanted to come back and fix it. Robinson said they were done. She didn't want them to finish. Also, they were licensed just not registered. Sounds like someone enternally dropped the ball. It's still not a crime. Why should he loose his license over this? If Robinson was an honest person, she should have let them fix the hole and finish the job. It would be interesting to see what Robinson wants out of this. I'll bet money, it's money.

Whenever you have a program, local, state, private, etc., that invloves "giving " money to eligibles, it always becomes hairy. As a state licensed contractor, who is also part of the My Safe FL approved list, it is very disheartening to see these types of situations. I feel for these consumers greatly and send out this warning. Do your homework! There are so many resources available o verifyt he information that these "contractors" are giving you, do your due diligence. If you are unsure please call another contractor and ask for advise. There are so many of us out here that really do have the clients' interest at heart. We work with several grant and low interest loan programs available throught he state and local governments and it always amazes us who can wiggle out of the wood work. For the consumer there are a couple of things that should "red flag" your senses during the estimate/contract phase of your project:
- check the heading on your new bids, it should read "proposal" or "estimate" not Invoice or conract - it is common practice to require 25-50% down payment, no more. Always withhold at least 25% until completion. - Do not give out your social security number unless you KNOW you are taking out a loan - make sure that your contractor files a notice of commencement, this protects you as well as the contractor, he should want this on public record and has to get it for the permit (some excpetion for low contract amount, check with your county, city permitting) - Ask for their license number, not occupational, but contracting license number, then look them up. You can call the the state, county, or go online to verify its validity. Good luck to all and always remember to follow you gut, it really does work! |
