Review: US Post Office

For 10 years the Lusby PO has been losing packages sent to me. The last problem involved a shipment of prescriptions that tracking showed to have arrived in my box on Oct. 3. They were not there, and no one calls me back about it. In the meantime, sitting in a hot metal box somewhere is ruining the quality of the drugs. And the family member who is supposed to be taking the medications has been waiting.
Last month, a book never showed up.
Businesses are losing money because of this. They have to refund my money, and have no merchandise.
The tracking system would indicate that all works well until the items get to the people who handle my mail in the Lusby PO.....then it all breaks down

Instead of complaining on this site, have you tried contacting 1-800-ASKUSPS? Or tried to contact the Consumer Advocates for the National Capital Area? Have you written a letter to the Post Master/ Mistress for Southern Maryland? There are too many avenues for customers to complain that it's almost foolproof.
Many customers find it easy to blame the Postal Service for some mailing error that 9 times out 10 occurred when the sender didn't label the package correctly. For example many letters, packages and everything else that gets mail don't have the proper address, apt #, name , state or zip code. Or better yet the customer wants to save on postage and says " mail it the cheap way" ...the cheap way is "parcel post " taking anywhere from 5 to 30 days depending on the weight, size and delivery destination.
My advice to you is be careful how you request your items to be mailed to you and also remember there are three agencies you really dont want messing with you. 1. IRS 2. DMV and 3. USPS . Somehow along the way you probably have made too many accusations about inferior service, untimely mail delivery and a slew of other allegations . Some maybe warranted some may not be but in order to keep getting your mail please be patient and understand that the USPS handles over 1 million pieces of mail daily. We strive to do our best but nothing is 100%. As it stands our delivery rate is around 95-98%. That's pretty good. And if you still find yourself unhappy with the service you are receiving by all means there is FED EX , DHL and UPS. These companies are more than willing to charge you extra for second rate service.
