Golly gee, there are some of us who do not believe that life begins at the moment of conception. But be that as it may, women should decide whether they will carry a pregnancy to term or terminate it. Of course, we could suggest that the men who leave their "seed" all over the community, without regard for the supporting and raising of their progeny, be forced to have their testicles removed.

Good point.

Why is it always the men who are the most incensed at this choice? Imagine carrying an unwanted (unwanted: meaning couldn't possibly care for) child to term and having it wrenched away at the moment of birth. Now you have destroyed a mother for the sake of a child. If the mother is "at risk" the possibility of adoption goes way down, as well. Why force this terrible situation on two individuals to assuage your conscience?

Abortions are not performed at 'the moment of conception'. Please educate yourself on how developed that baby is at 1 month. For those who are unfamilar with adoption, babies are not 'wrenched away'. Mature, loving women make a life decision for their child..to be wanted, raised & loved by someone else. This is a decision a woman can feel proud of - that she thought of what was best for that child, instead of just thinking of herself. Can you say the same about abortion?

As for Margaret Sanger I can tell you have never read anything thaqt she wrote. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm48...

Educate yourself then refer to.....
STUPID man.
A women has the right to choose what she does or does not do with her OWN body. Get over yourself.
Your mother should of aborted you. I pity the woman (your mother) for the Embarrassment that you have become.

"Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood? She was a promoter of birth control and eugenics, the selective breeding of humans to weed out undesirables to improve the race. Apparently, her writings show Sanger had little use for racial minorities, the poor, immigrants, the handicapped and the mentally ill. One of her most memorable, disgusting quotes revealing her extreme beliefs still evident today in the dark business she founded: "The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.""

Boy....I never thought Margaret Sanger was very talented....I take that all back if what this letter writer says is true. She has been doing a great Fitchburg service by getting rid of the minorities, crips, dumbos, anything else not worth keeping. Thank you for the information....I never knew she was that great.

Well, qualify that by saying the ANTI-CHOICE men and the answer is an easy one; they are the ones most incensed at this choice because their CONTROL over the woman has been taken away.

Over 100 years ago -- before women were granted RIGHTS, that is -- men had control over women in just about everything. That is no longer the case, especially since women were finally granted the legal right to vote in 1920, and of course the right to work at jobs/professions that had been previously closed to them.

Since women can now have careers which give women good salaries, women can now CHOOSE whether to marry or not, as opposed to the dark days when women were often forced to marry just to survive. That doesn't make too many male anti-choicers happy, neither is some women's choice to reject motherhood. Which is precisely why they want to FORCE women into pregnancy and birth, by trying to shut down all Planned Parenthood clinics and all other women's clinics that provide contraception and other women's health services.

Oops, I mistakenly forgot to add a critical fact in my previous post. MANY men, including PastorBob666, StateTheObvious, CPetr, ConservativeDemocrat and others (whose names escape me at the moment) are all pro-choice. They continue to be the inspiration for this thought:

Even though I'm a social liberal I don't agree with abortion and I wished women didn't have to do that. However I'm still pro choice and I don't believe in the "life begins at conception" religious mumbo jumbo.

it is a shame that such a cogent letter as was written by Mr Saudelli is met with ad hominem attacks.

Show me a person who resorts to sarcasm and personal attacks and I'll show you someone who has lost the debate.

There is no debate as to when life begins. It is not subject to opinion. Whatever hardship a new life may present, the death solution is heartless and ultimately wounds women as well as killing a defenseless human being.

In this day and age, when contraceptive devices are as readily available as chewing gum, it is really a wonder why there are so many "unwanted" pregnancies in the first place. For heavens sake, those little latex things are not just big baloons or a dope stash protector.

Here's the truth about those little latex things 1) they are not 100% reliable even when used correctly, 2)they are not always used correctly, 3) they are not always present "in the moment", especially in some cultures (that's where the education is especially needed.) Even the pill and and other chemical contraceptives are not 100% reliable. Physical implants, like IUD's sometimes fail, as well. Obviously, multiple precautions are the best bet, but most women and men are unaware of how tricky it can be to be 100% safe without completely abstaining. PP has all of this info for those who do not want to go through the difficult choice of abortion.

That's another thing - for those who think an abortion is an easy procedure for a woman to have it is NOT. It is physically and emotionally debilitating and is a last choice. It is NOT a casual choice of birth control.

You're entitled to your opinion, but that's all this is.

Life began millenia ago, and has been in continuum ever since. It is not an event, it is a process.

Fertilization is simply the second stage in the human reproductive cycle, and the point of Embryogenesis. That's all.

Idiot,
Human reproduction has a result: a new human being. Embryogenesis occurs because a human being is now in existence. Embryogenesis is not the development of NOTHING as you are trying to imply.
You just had another one of those encounters with your master, I can tell. Nobody can be that stupid otherwise.

Regardless of the erudition of Mr. Saudelli's letter, he remains a narrow-minded, religious zealot and a bigoted homophobe seeking to ostracize and marginalize anyone who is not in lockstep with his concept of society.
