We went to the parade on Sunday and commented on the building finally coming down. What gets my goat is what did the fire dept think was gonna happen to the building if it did burn. They had companies from other towns there fighting it and of course putting their lives in danger. There was no buildings near by so why involve 50 fire fighters and pay overtime. Start using some common sense and fight the fire fires that are worth fighting.

It took 12 Fitchburg firefighters to extinguish the fire. No overtime was needed. The towns provided companies to cover the city as our firefighters were fighting the fire. This is called a mutual aid agreement and they also send our companies to standby at their stations to take their calls if they are busy in their communities several times throughout each year. Of course it is going to burn the firefighters job is to extinguish it. The outside town companies were not in danger as they were stationed at Fitchburg's Fire stations which is the usual practice. Firefighting is always a dangerous profession anyways and a firefighters picking up a drug addict on the sidewalk at 3 am with unknown syringes in his pockets is more dangerous than fighting a fire. Fight the fires that are worth fighting? So they should have just let it burn with the toxic smoke being given off that could contain PCB's that would engulf the city? I guess your another one that just lost their credibility on the forum. Too bad your a wannabe know it all citizen
