Lt. Governor Diane Denish was the first woman elected Lt. Governor in our state's history. In her position as Lt. Governor, it is Denish's job to serve as the President of the New Mexico Senate and to serve as the acting governor when Governor Richardson is out of state.

The Lt. Governor can help with the making of the laws, can voice her displeasure or advice on certain laws, but she has kept in lock step with Bill Richardson.

Your argument Silk holds no water at all.

Maybe the honorable thing to do under the scandal ridden regime of Richardson would have been for her to quit after the first 4 years. She could have run this go-around as an Independent showcasing what was wrong with $Bills reign, the Dem platform in NM and how she's different.

"Can help with the making of laws" and "voice her displeasure" are meaningless hyperbole. Anyone can help with the making of laws, as can anyone voice their displeasure. Neither is necessarily a trait inherent in those in power.

You did get one thing right, she had power when the Governor was out of the state, but only then.

She is the lesser of two evils and if she listens and does what the people want...a MAJORITY...with common sense (in such demand these days) then I think that NM will prosper under her leadership. Tired of Billy politics and Denish will just be more of William's rule but just known to the community as Wilma. If Diana wanted to make a statement, she would have strongly urged the Dems to go the other way and do the bidding of the constituents, not of the party.

Just looked at the post...I thought it was going to show me in favor of Martinez. Unless that was already prevalent in my comments...

Remember, Richardson was OUT OF THE STATE a whole lot during the 2008 Presidential run for office. In September 2007 at the opening of Turtleback Mountain Resort, Denish was quoted as saying she was pretty much doing Richardson's job because he wasn't in New Mexico very much, and wouldn't be for the next year.

Denish didn't change the Richardson course nor agenda. Denish AND Richardson are cut from the same cloth.

It's time for Susana Martinez - and maybe Santa Fe will wake up to realizing the second largest city in New Mexico is down here, not up there.

Since Mickey Mouse isn't on the ballot for Governor, I'll be voting for "none of the above" (leave that portion unmarked).
----------
Denish has done squat during all the time she has been acting governor, while Richardson has been out of the state running for president (and various other politicking for personal power). In spite of her claims she will do great things, I have to judge her by her record - which seems to be non-existant except as a seat warmer.

Martinez is just hustling the Hispanic vote, and seems to have no experience on the state record. Her claims that she will be able to do great things for New Mexic also seem to be thin.

A pox on both candidates for Governor.

Martinez is pretending to be tough because she has no experience. Voting for someone based on their speeches and tv ads does not work. That's how Obama got elected and he has let down a lot of those who voted for him. Martinez, if elected will also be a let down.

Diane Denish was part of the very corrupt Richardson administration, which has broken the state treasury, while lining their own pockets. Thus they need to go.

I wouldn't vote for Denish under any circumstances. She has been part of or at the very least a politician who tolerated corruption at every level in New Mexico politics. Think of our last two state treasurers, Manny Aragon, and the clearly corrupt dealing of senior politicians in pay for play schemes that cost the people of New Mexico millions of dollars. Susana Martinez is the only choice and I have already voted for her.

After 8 years of failed policies, coupled with Denish's inability to hold a real job and being financed by Washington DC groups we need Martinez
