For some reason I don't think the IRS and the city shared the same opinion about Joann.

I do not know this woman, but I am confussed how the person responsible for the Parson could be considered a saint in any definition of the word. It is a shit hole rat trap. It constantly has issues with excessive drinking, fighting, hookers, drugs, and any other thing you can name to describe the under belly of society. It has been a blight on this city for many, many years. It is a rat trap, an infestation of the worst people this town has to offer. If this woman was such a saint she would not have operated such a low class establishment. Just because it is populated by the poor does not mean it has to be run so loose. Proper management could make it decent housing. Throwing people out when they misbehave would make people act a lot better, especially since it is basically the lowest rent place available. But if you have no threat of being thrown out....you can just live the big life and have the police there 10-15 times a week. That is how it has been as long as I can remember.
ms. larosa may not be a saint, but she is a good person. Its hard to get higher class people so to speak in a bldg. That has no air condiion and shared bathrooms. It takes a lot of money to upgrade a building. Look at waldo.T he info that you provided is not all true. People were evicted frequently. Many people lived there several years, there weretransient people that were touble at times, but left soon after. So sir your info. Is not totally accurate. This area lacks low housing so hence places like the parson are necessary. We are not calling it the Parson Hilton, nor shoild anoldbuilding have muchexpectation. If you want to start over....level it....

It is extremely had to run a hotel on the rents being paid at Parson's. Where as say a hotel on interstate is returning about $ 1500 a month per room based on a 50% occupancy, It is actually a lot higher then that. A far cry from what the Parson's Hotel generates.

It will take alot of disposable income from an owner to revitalize this old structure. If you want higher rent than you have to offer hotel service as Mr. shaffer indicates. A few may pay a little higher rent, but not enough will pay higher rates for the return needed in the mean time to be cost effective . My opinion is pay a few hundred thousand to demolish (asbestos) & start over. it will take at least 1million to do all this.....and then several years to get a return on investment...my bet it will end up like The Waldo.

.. If the place is a slum dont stay there..
If it's cheap . It is what it is. Alot of people stay there. It is cheap. Not everyone can afford the luxuries of a big home. People have to make sacrifices. If you never have had to then, good for you. Not everyone can be that lucky. So quit hating on something that keeps people from being homeless. It gives shelter.. showers. Drinking water, able to make a meal and afford to do so... some would be appreciate of that.. Keeps people off the street and with a little peace of mind.
