Saturday-April 6th
I hear we have a busy day planned in Huntington. Every body will be busy with fun raisers, City cleanup and Softball. Everywhere you look you should find something to get involved with here on Saturday. First will be the "Keep Huntington Beautiful" Event starting at 8:30am at the Housing Authority. The Girl's Softball opening day is also on tap. The Ora VFD has plans for a barbeque at the Lowery Corner and the Huntington VFD will have a garage sell at their Fire Station. Lots will be going on, so find something and join in the fun.

Correction: A Fish Fry is planned instead of barbeque at Lowery's Corner. There is plenty to do and see happening this Saturday. Please drive with caution because there will be lots of activities happening around town. Have a great day!

Took my wife by the Huntington VFD Garage Sale,
Then dropped by the Ora VFD Fish Fry and bought two plates.

Even made both Dollar Stores. My wife doesn't like the latest rearrangement of the one on the left where they have moved the checkout and placed the aisles crossway.

She said the lady that did such a good job keeping the shelves stocked has been missing the last couple times she was in.

Wife usually goes to the one by City hall.

It sounds like you had a great day in Huntington! It is a little different with the new arrangement, it's like CVS I guess. How was the fish? I had lunch with the "Keep Huntington Beautiful" Bunch and missed the fish. Everyone seemed to have a full day planned for sure.

Fish was great and a fair quantity. I hope they made a good amount of money.

I don't know if all those people wearing Ora VFD shirts were actually members or not, but there were a bunch.

I also enjoyed a great day Saturday with all the activites in Huntington. It was nice seeing all the citizens out enjoying the beautiful weather. I also went by the fire department and the fish fry. I asked about the pink shirts and they said that they were being worn by all members to promote cancer awareness.

It sure was nice to see all the activity and Community involvement in Huntington on Saturday. Just a side note, with all the activity around town, did anyone see the Mayor or any of the Council members out and about? Maybe we need their community involvement added to the Council meetings so we know where their community interest is.

Everyone please notice the Welcome sign on the North side of 69 has been mowed and groomed. It's a great way for the City to start this mowing season.
Thank you, Damon Walton!

Centennial Park has been mowed again! I did notice a new plaque being placed by the fountain area. Anyone stop and get a good look? Interesting indeed.

Damon, sorry I misspelled your name.

Something that has been noticed by me is the Morehead corner at the light has been mowed.
That is a great start to making our town look more inviting. Thank you for mowing, it looks so much better. I understand the State owns those "right of ways" but it still reflects on us as a City when people pass through.

Great Job! 2012 City of Huntington's Audit has been added to City of Huntington Website. Please take the time to look it over, take special notice of auditor's comments and notes.

Could it be that the present administration is having all this spruce up done to influence the vote for the existing incumbent councilmen.

Not much spruce up if you check the numbers and get past the neutral summary from the auditor. Remember the auditor's pay check depends on how well they can dress up the sow's ear to sound like a silk purse. The numbers tell the story and the notes at the end gives some idea of what they have cautioned the City Management and Council on in this review and in the past. Notice the increase of debt obligations from the 2011 Audit to the 2012 Audit.

We were out and about today and all I can say is. "Wow!". So many have cleaned up and planted flower beds. It really is looking nice around town. It makes me think we can do anything if we work together!

Great job all around, Centennial Park has been mowed and weedeated to have it's best showing for Memorial Day. City Secretary, Betsy Gregson got new flags for the Veteran Wall, it's been swept and ready for Monday. I hope everyone gets by to see it and give a moment of time to remember all that have served our Country. Please be sure to thank everyone for their help getting this done this year. Great Job!

Just wanted to say the clean up job at Rudy's is wonderful! Just one corner left to get mowed at the light. The light is probably how most people see us as they pass through. Moving forward corner by corner.....

Now all we have to do is clean up the fire truck junk yard behind Rudy's
