I am sure the 80,000.00 is what Milstead received after his attorney was paid by TML as well. I am not sure though if this was for settlement of the City Suit only. I do believe he has a personal suit against several council persons. Not sure if TML covers their personal law suits or if they will be under a different suit/ Anyone Know? I heard if they do cover those suits, it will only be a portion of the suit and they will be liable for the cost above the amount TML covers. Those will still be coming for settlement or trial.

What is happening with the Zavalla area and motorcycles with all the deaths and injuries.
Did the two that were flown to Beaumont survive?

What I am about to print was submitted to the Lufkin Daily News as a letter to the editor almost three week's ago put they either have not had time to print it or have chosen not to:

Last month Nichole Yarbrough painted a very bleak picture of Zavalla’s financial situation. Her figures showed our City operating with the largest deficit in history. This month the City Council voted to use monies from the $400,000 CD to pay for the improvements to the City’s water system, to bring it into compliance, and to pay for city audits. According to the Mayor the reason they went into the CD was because the City does not have the money elsewhere. Now in the same meeting the City Council voted to spend money on a new security system for the City Hall and the Waste Treatment plant.
So if we are so broke that we have to tap into the City’s CD why are we wasting money on a security system and where is the money for this system coming from? The only reason I can think of to have a security system at the Waste Treatment Plant, is so the Mayor can protect his two mules, and a trailer that he is housing at the Waste Treatment Plant free of charge, and to make sure that the Tahoe, that can no longer be used as a take home vehicle for our only Police Officer, because we cannot afford the fuel, is not used by anyone other than the Mayor.
Just a thought, instead of a paying for a security system why not use that money for fuel so our only Police Officer will have a take home vehicle.

As side note last week myself and two others obtained both picture and video of the Mayor Davis using the police Tahoe, the one our only Police Officer cant use for a take home vehicle, stopping at the intersection f US highway 63 and 69 to purchase a watermelon.

So apparently the city can afford gas money for the Mayor to pick up watermelons but not for our only Police Officer to have a take home vehicle. So to me it would appear as Mayor Davis is more concerned about water melons then the safety and security of our citizens. If any one would like a photo of the Mayor in Action please contact me at my email rbrunk@Hotmail.com. If I send you a picture please share with all of your friends.

Oh by the way I sent a this picture to LFDN as well and they have yet to get back to me on printing this, perhaps the Beaumont Enterprise would be more interested

I'm just wondering why there's only a few people in the big city of Zavalla who LOVE to stir up and draw more negative attention to our town. Do you not realize that not only do you draw negative attention to our town but you make yourself look like an idiot when you use improper grammar? There is a difference between THEN and THAN as well as THERE, THEY'RE and THEIR. Our mayor was voted in by the people of this town who spoke in volumes when they voted old city council members off the council and new ones in. It seems to me that the people who were defeated (hands down might I add) would try to get along. Now don't get me wrong, there are things thAt I don't agree with. But instead of bashing each other, we should all try to get along for the betterment of the town.

Oh please, "Just Wondering" don't lecture me about getting along when you wont even post your real name on here and you have to hide behind an alias. I can say that I am proud to stand behind what I have posted on here because every thing I have posted has been the truth and can be backed by solid facts, so am I stirring things up maybe so but I am using my right to the Freedom of Speech as afford to me by the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, something the newly elected City Government has taken away for its citizens. But that's cool there are things on the horizon that coming this way and there are changes in the wind.

Oh Please Mr. Brunk...I've seen your fire department's response, or lack of response and really don't want to have to rebuild. So, therefore, I'll continue to remain anonymous. Just saying, strange things have happened when people speak out against others. That and the fact that, believe it or not I actually do like people on both sides and would continue to do so without conflict.. So, yes, I'll remain anonymous.

Well, I went to the source about the law suit against the city that was settled. Milstead received $28000 from TML and not from the city. It was the decission of TML and not the City, TML figured it would be cheaper than draw it out. So I hope this clears things for some.

Thanks so much for the info. I had heard it was less than 30k. I also heard it was TML's decision to settle and the city wasn't happy about settling at all. But that's neither here nor there. But I find it quite amusing that the rumor mill had him receiving 80k or more. Just goes to show what kind of rumor mill Zavalla has....unhappy citizens spreading unfounded and false information!

If the MAYOR (or council) or both had of provided that information upfront, the rumors and speculation would not have occurred.

This is true. However, I didn't ask the mayor or any member of the city council. Did you? And there's always gonna be speculation and rumors in this town. I've learned to take everything with a grain of salt from all parties involved.

LOL you are so funny, that's not Mr. Brunks Fire Department that's the community's you idiot, and as far as hiding behind screen name, you make blind baseless accusations but you do it from behind a screen name. At least Mr. Brunks puts his name out there. People like you are why that town is so screwed up. Because you are spineless and ignorant

This is a downright misrepresentation of the truth...your source is full of it...the settlement was for $80,000. Judge Milstead received 60% and his lawyer 40%. TML paid their share but the city had to come up with the difference. You might want to check your "source"...because that is simply not fact.

Well you're NOT wannahelp...because I don't know WHO you went to for your info, but they didn't tell you the truth...It was for $80,000 (60%-40%) and TML settled after the depositions because they KNEW they would lose in a court of law after Courtney, Guzman & Miller told the true account of what had happened with Davis & the council. TML paid their amount and the CITY had to come up with the difference. Your "source" is not telling the truth.

So are you "wannahelp" or "a citizen"...same poster? Who is your source? The mayor and city council NEVER release info about this because they KNOW they were in the wrong. This so-called source of yours is filling you with untruths. And you've further the speculation going on in Zavalla by stating something as FACT when it is NOT.

The mayor and city council did not provide this information because it was NOT the truth. That is NOT the amount that was settled for...it was $80,000...this "wannahelp" and "a citizen" poster obviously is one in the same and they're full of it...spreading more lies. I don't know what their agenda is, but lying about settlements to make this mayor and council "appear" not guilty seems to me where they are leaning...

People complained when the new city council was voted in and rampant changes ensued. The new city council/mayor didn't seem to mind that people didn't like what they were doing. No one was getting along then either. Now the "other side" have done their homework and are voicing their findings aka facts. And if you were truly interested in the betterment of the community, you would want to hear the facts, not just the sweet stuff. There will be time for hugs and kisses later.

Agreed...and the facts are out there for those interested...FACT: the one time four-man police force is down to one...all by the hands of Davis & Council...and he (Chief C) is under a hostile work environment...demotion and pay-cuts...you have to ask yourself, why? A personal vendetta against Chief Courtney for standing up for the truth...he is now being punished by said administration. It's AGAINST THE LAW...where is the public outcry? Does a tragedy have to occur to get people's attention?(ie. when your homes or people you love are not protected and when you need law enforcement, they will not be available) Or do they simply don't care? I don't comprehend the mindset of citizens that simply don't participate in their city government.
