Would love to see some positive changes and positive council influence instead of the 'yes men' that seem to fill the positions right now
I truly believe the majority of the Council want changes made, they just don't want a confrontation and embarrass the City, trouble is their lack of action as become an embarrassment to everyone. You know even the best old mule can get tired of the constant jabs and sit down on you. Maybe it's time for the mules to change masters.

I agree, the head jackass needs to GO!! If the council really wants to help improve the city of huntington, they need to take action. There is NOTHING they could do to cause more embarrassment to the city of huntington that bruce and/or betsy have not already done

Questionable Conduct: How does BM's activities with the HVFD reflect on him?

<quoted text>I think the Council members go into it for different reasons, some for the Community and some for obligation. Several council were "groomed" first by Betsy having them on the Economic Development Board to see if they will follow her lead or make waves. I have heard several say that once they are on the Council they feel that they are in the minority and can't get the others to do anything different. They say if they question anything the other Council members tell them that's the way it is or they will explain it later. And of course "later" never comes, kind of like the committees that are planned to get Citizen involvement never happens. But it sure sounds good during a Council meeting to shut up a Citizen with concerns. Speaking of questionable conduct, how about the no involvement from the Council members and the Economic Development Board? Anyone wonder why?
Yet you failed to answer Councilman Boles question with a definitive answer at the last meeting, just vague references "...have you read the minutes.....have you been to a meeting...." What were you implying? That the others on the board answer to BG? That they secretly funnel her funds or pay her for her services? I heard you didn't even make it to the last meeting.

This re-auditing the audit is one thing that needs to be questioned by this council...WHY on Earth would you waste taxpayers' money...at over $100 per hour...to do this? It's just not rational or feasible when there are other problems those resources need to be used for...I just can't fathom the concept...or is there simply no concept to it...this council is NOT going forward, citizens of Huntington, their pattern has became so clear in only a month in office.

I was confused with that as well. It sounded (in my opinion), like she did not agree with how the funds were handled the last 12 or so years with the EDC. But that is another, seperate, topic. It sounded (in my opinion & others I heard) like she was blaming BG for the funds not being used for what she thought they should. Street signs, Centennial park restrooms, the asphalt zipper for the roads, Welcome to Huntington signs, etc. But BG is ONE vote of SEVEN. 1/7. 1:7. Boles even said that was like blaming 1 council member for all the council decisions. That isn't right & makes no sense. I would agree if there was a reasonable explanation. But they removed her from the city, she stepped down as financial officer from EDC, what more is needed? It takes TWO in the EDC to sign a check, Betsy isn't even one of them. AFTER 7 people VOTE and it is RECORDED in public record. AND if the project requires it (like the restrooms) the council VOTES as well. So wow, BG had a lot of influence over how many people? 11 ? 12 ?
She asked if Boles went to EDC meetings. I encourage anyone in the city to go sit in on their meeting one day. There is a wide variety of opinions, & people representing all parts of this town. Most votes are not unanimous,(meaning people are not coerced) there is discussion & research done. That is how it should be. Read the PUBLIC minutes posted on the city website if you haven't made a meeting yet.
As I've been saying- If you don't like how something is done, work to make changes. Join a board, cast your vote. Volunteer. It's like any other board or committee- the group works together. But don't blame one person for what you might feel is an issue with an entire community.

I'm sorry for butting in but just who are the voting members of the EDC?We are aware of Ms.Grigson but who are the other members and why did they have their audit combined with the cities is worrisome at best. I am aware that Ms.G started the EDC under an older name but if she is a volunteer and a non-vote,none -check signer whats the darn problem?I saw Ms. Ina's proplexity at Rachelles vote and question and I watched Bobby try and not sound childish but it apeared that one should marshall their votes before playing their hand. Ms.Ina didn't have the votes she has come to count on when a motion is made and the Mayor just ain't gonna rock the boat.Better planning and most of all the new council persons need to pick their battles so they don't lose the war. Ms. Ina need to keep a close watch on audits of both the city and the EDC and keep them separate don't you think?

Question: When these audits are done and they are done separately if everything is great no dessrepencies why should the citizens be punished and have to pay for the cost of the audits? I only ask because the audit from November shows the city to be in great shape. Why would a reputable firm jeopardize their license for the City of Huntington? This money could be well spent in other depts. How much road could be repaired with this money being spent on audits? I think these are fair questions and nobody has supplied a answer. Just ridicule for asking by people such as your self.

There are two sides to the audit oin. One side the audit shows no wrong doing and the corruption people are left wih a great deal of egg on their faces and they owe some serious apologies to crtain people. On the other side if fraud and misappropriation of fudiciary funds along with mighly questionable use of city funds for personal purposes is found then one side is vendicated and criminal charges should be forthcoming.Either way some ones gonna get hurt, personally, professionally, and economically. On the other hand the incoming City Adimnistrator and City Secretary both will benefit from this audit because they enter a combative council chamber with both factions ready for war.I would not throw my hat in that ring for love nor money.Only time will tell which side of the audit coin will come out the winner in my book-as long as the audit is done openly and honestly.Remember an accountant can only audit what infor mation is given him so don't blame the bean counter for how many beans he counts.

An audit is NOT unusual when there is a change in money management.

In many instances, it is required.

I agree but not a forensic audit. I don't think any one realizes what a forensic audit cost. Have another audit if it will make you feel good. I just think having a forensic audit is a very costly expense that the city dosen't need. I know according to some I'm unreasonable and that's fine!

Not in a municipality where there was already one done in November...this is excessive and you know it...everyone knows it. This is the council moving BACKWARDS...they have NO VISION for the future...they're just out rattling their sabers and hellbent on TRYING to defile people's reputations...but BG and BM will have the last laugh...but I bet you ANYTHING, no apologies will be extended when no wrongs have been found...I would bet my life on it. Ina C has been on a mission...the proof is in the past posts...it's all there for Ms. Gregson's lawsuit. Why else has she not posted anything lately? Silence on her behalf says it all. She is aware that she can't "un-post" all the slander, lies, and gossip that she helped perpetuate in the past. And now, it's too late for the broad. Oh well, you reap what you sow.

I could care less, Marley. I say what I mean and mean what I say. I take my meds every day...they NEED to take some! I'm just not one to hold my tongue when an injustice has been dealt...these past posts really make me sick...I truly wish I'd known about this site in the past few years...they would have heard from me ALOT sooner.
