The Billy Crowder Case

Has anyone ever considered that the injustice done Billy Crowder was due to the possibility that the Grandfather, the Sheriff, and the Judge in the case belonged to the same Klavern of the Klu Klux Klan?

Explain what you mean by Injustice?(not fair trial? not fair sentence? not fairly represented?)

Not sure about the KKK, Ive never heard that. But if you know anything about the case knows about the injustice done. Billy wasn't charged with murder, because the jury felt he had been abused by his grandfather. But they had to decide if him taking money from his grandfather was considered Armed robbery. And they found him guilty of it. They did not know that the sentence was a life sentence, which is what he recieved. The jurors were very upset, this is not what they wanted for Billy. They even pleaded with the judge to reduce the sentence but he wouldnt. So Billy has been in jail ever since, not sure when he will be up for parole, I know his time limit for an appeal had ran out.So yes, no fair sentence.

I heard that his parole is suppose to be in april... He is a family friend.

It has not been granted yet. I think they have have had the parole hearing. Billy was not allowed to even attend according to his wife. Havent heard of a decision. Dont know how long it takes them to make a decision, or if they have made one. surely not or we would have heard. I hope he gets out, he has spent way too long there as it is and they say it will be something like 12 years before he is up for parole again. this is according to his wife, she had a website up but now it is down. But he was not paroled in April I do know that family friend. and what have you heard family friend?? anything

Has he been paroled? Hopefully he has. He's suffered long enough. The justice system failed him.

I am also interested to know if he was paroled? I was disgusted at a life sentence for taking the money, which they said he paid household bills with. He did not deserve jail time for what he did. However, the sheriff and others involved in not helping Billy and his sister, should have been removed from their jobs.

Yes, the grandfather & the sherriff had gone back 30 years in the Kkk together. Not sure about the judge though, one way or the other but I think its definitely possible. A nieghbor reported the grandfather years before the murder to the sheriff, nothing was ever looked into. I just watched a documentory of this case, I was looking for an update on his appeal this year.

Karen, I know that the Sheriff and the grandfather were more friends than he admitted, but what makes you think the Sheriff was part of the KKK???? I myself do not believe this. I could see the granfather being a part of it but not the Sheriff. Where did you get this information. And highly doubt the judge was either. And what neighbor reported it, everyone I saw during that case "knew" about the abuse but when asked if they ever told about it they all said no. which is bull if they knew this is going on. Again though would like how you know about the KKK stuff you mentioned.

The KKK has no bearing on the facts of the case I just saw on "Discovery, I.D.".
No offense to any of you Living in Georgia, but it seems like this is yet another case of "GEORGIA" good ole' boy justice took over
The fact that the Jurors ,petitioned the judge, and the judge refused to lower the sentence,seems to me that for 30 years of driving back and forth to florida, i stay on the interstate, and never stop driving.

Any word on the decision of the parole hearing? Is he still in prison or was he granted parole?

I have worried about Billy ever since I saw his story and trial on TV. That old grandfather needed killing long before he was. The horror he put his family through, and still is, all those years. I hope Billy and the rest of his family get out of prison VERY soon...they should NEVER have gone there in first place.

I'm puzzled as to why anyone would say that Billy and all of the others involved were done wrong. They murdered a man in his sleep. I knew Thurman Martin and couldn't stand him, but he still was a human being. He was a mean old rascal, and I have no doubt as to him being abusive, but if it was to the extent that was claimed there would have been some physical evidence, such as broke bones. Even if he did the things he was accused of, you can't murder someone for it. Why didn't they kill him in self-defense while he was committing these acts? When vigilante justice prevails innocent people die. Not that Thurman was innocent, but he deserved better than that. The didn't get what they deserved. They should have been put to death.

Bewildered, you knew him and he was a mean old rascal and you don't doubt him being abusive. You can't murder someone for it well you can and they did. He deserved every bit of it. Why didnt they kill him in self defense?? they were terrified of him, he did this to him and the whole family their whole lives, them as little children. He didn't deserve anything but what he got I have learned things that he did that are vile, disqusting and horrible. Think of your child or grandchild going through something you can't even imagine happening. Think you would feel different. Do not judge them, you are not anyone's judge or jury and have not walked in this families shoes. I hope he is in hell is where I hope he is. And I wish the best for his surviving family except the other one in prison who is just as evil as his daddy, he can go to hell too.

Angie, it's strange that you would tell Bewildered that they aren't a judge or jury. Yet you say that the old man " deserved every bit of it". You also say that you " hope he is in hell" and the other family member " he can go to hell too". I guess that not only are you a judge and jury but God as well. And as for your ridiculous statement" You can't murder someone for it," well you can and they did", this is true and is the reason that they are in prison.

You have to be crazy!! Or the judge, or sheriff that helped put him away!! He should have never been convicted in the first place! I Pray to God that he is released very soon, he has been on my mind for years now and if I could have three wishes.. One would be for him to get out and sue the hell out of the police department, the second would be for Betty Broderick to be released.. I Love these two people and I feel their pain!! God Bless You Billy, I am on your side, God will punish all the liars, etc.
