I know every precaution is taken by the staff of the Hampden County Correctional Facility. The men and women of the facility do everything in thier power to prevent such a tragedy. From the guards to the counselors everyone is there if any of the inmates need help. I was a student there and I saw these men and women at work and I feel confident to say if this was preventable it would have been prevented.

I was in jail once and it happened to be last year in Ludlow for 3 months until they completley reduced my charge to a much lower charge. Still awaiting trial for an accusation and crime I "did not" commit, it was a horrible experience. I have to say in this mans defense that I had fleeting thoughts of suicide while I was there. It was extremly depressing for me. Although it IS NOT the way out or the way to deal with things. I have to say that I was very surprised by the way that the staff carried themselves, they are commendable. I have about an 85% chance of winning my trial and am fairly confident however, its been a true nightmare.

i was incarcerated at the hampden county house of corrections and find it impossible to construct a hanging device without a corrections officer to either see it being constructed and feel that the county officers had no intension that they care about any human life but them self i was incarcerated and my pinky finger was unfortunatly slammed in the door and i was told by a corrections officer that he did not care he told me quote that he did not care if my heart was coming out of my chest he would not call medical attention.

At the Hampden County Sheriff's dept They are not Jail Guards. They are Correctional Officers of the Hampden County Sheriff's dept. Infact down south the Sheriff's dept patrol and keeps control of the streets. They are Officers.

wow... i have worked at the hampden county jail and attempts occur very often... and to think there have been only 6 cases since 93 is amazing. The Officers obviously do their jobs and do it correctly. As for inmates... (ones who have spoken out and others) they want medical attention constantly for anything... people need to grow up and realize they couldn't carry out the job they do every day.

While i have the utmost recpect for the corrections officers I say Let them do it!!! less criminals that end up back on the streets and more of my taxes to spend on schools. Its a win win situation.
