Stop sign added to west end of eastbound Ludington Avenue
Ludington Avenue will have a new stop sign at Stearns Outer Drive. Police Chief Mark Barnett has drafted a traffic control order establishing the stop and the city council approved the order 5-1, with Councilor A. Pete Engblade voting no and Councilor Kaye Ferguson-Holman absent.

Two things. First, The warrants that are used for determining whether a stop sign should be placed on a street, are not met at this point, meaning the sign is superfluous and does more harm than good as concerns traffic control/speed and pedestrain safety. Second, the new sign will eliminate at least 3 existing parking spaces since no one can park within 30 ft of the approach to a stop sign by state and local law. The angle parking may also have to be changed to parallel parking, which would lose more spaces, but hopefully lead to some pedestrian facilities being constructed there.
