I agree....12 years old, that would be 7th grade? He knew what he was doing...his intentions, when he shot that gun, were to kill his mother.

He shot his mother because he got angry with her one morning. The boy isn't mentally stable, he is autistic.

So let me get this straight, So its your gentle and kind belief that people that are aflicted with autistism are mentally unstable?

Well since you don't know this little boy personally and I do. No he wasn't in 7th grade. He was still in grade school. He is disabled. People are dumb.

When you are just 12 and have autism you simply don't grasp the full meaning of your actions as you would if you were a normal rational functioning adult. Holding him to that standard would not be fair. Why do we try people as a juvenile vs as an adult if not for the fact that children, let alone austistic ones, simply aren't fully mature in their thinking yet. Just because the crime was a particuly bad one, doesn't mean he was thinking as rationally as an normal adult would have been. The crime itself is evidence of his mental instability. He shot the very mom that loved him dearly. That's simply not how normal functioning children think, let alone adults. He was only twelve, and with autism was not even functioning at a twelve year old level. Why then should he be tried as an adult? Just because his crime was bad? The severity of his crime has absolutely no bearing on his "adultness."
