A tragedy expected during rally events in Europe and South America that has happened many times there before. But not in the USA I thought we were smarter than this?

I like how everyone keeps concentrating on commenting about spectators being too close and then go on to insult them and call them stupid, dumb, and other words. What is wrong with you people? Have some respect for the families and friends of those who were injured and killed. If any of your friends or family members were killed or injured (doesn't matter how), you'd expect sympathy and well wishes, not insults and people passing judgement.

My heart and sympathies go to the families and friends whose lives were affected by this tragedy.

It is an unfortunate accident. I have been to plenty of these races. People always try to stand close to the track. Once the promoter put up a fence to keep people back. It was torn down and everyone moved closer. It had nothing to do with the driver or the promoter. But you know in court it will be a different story.

Anyone who goes to court with this will merely prove what many people think: That these are attended by low class, rednecks who can't earn an honest living.

If no one tries to sue, perhaps SOME people will re-think that view. I'm trying to take a wait & see approach. Only time will tell.

Low class rednecks who can't earn an honest living? Obviously you have never been to an off road race. Race vehicles cost starting at $20,000 and go up to over $100,000.
Many racers and spectators are government employees.

yes, its a shame. but if your within 4 feet of the trucks driving on A UNSTABLE SURFACE (sand/dirt) anything tragic can happen. maybe with all this people can learn a important lesson. may they all R.I.P. Once again, Its a shame.
RIP. These people obviousley loved off road sports, new the risk, and still went out to watch support what they loved, my only hope is that people don't use this as another way of creating a crusade that is out to create a real life George Orwell 1984, freedom is freedom, keep your opinions out of my lifestyle, and hobbies, if they are dangerous in your opinion it's simple, stay away, no harm no foul, at least that's the way I would like to think of it. Part of off road racing is being able to persevere in adverse conditions, such as and (all caps) "UNSTABLE SURFACE", an in my opinon, wanting to participate is their right and choice, much the same for the people attending, because really, if we are worried about "UNSTABLE SURFACES", as a Civil Engineer, I ask you, why in the hell do you live in California?

You should learn to read. I stated SOME PEOPLE.

I also stated that if no one tried to sue, that may prove them wrong. However, if they try to sue, it will only perpetuate the notion.

Do they all pay CASH for those toys? If not, all you figures prove is that they know how to get in debt.

As I stated, only time will tell if they are hard working people, who don't expect to get something for nothing. Your post certainly doesn't.

I hope the loved ones of those who perished have the class & dignity to accept the choices their loved ones made.

Dayum, these tragedies always have to bring out the bigots. Can't we just be sad that people died and not be concerned about their race or social status? Their families have suffered, children lost parents. Obviously more safety precautions need to be taken and enforced.

Obviously, people can't follow the rules. When a sign informs you to stand 120 feet away from the rope, you should do it.

Their social status will be determined when they make their decision about suing.

Out of line to even comment? It's a news discussion board, you fool. This is not a memorial site.
