SHOPPERS BEWARE OF LUCEDALE'S NEW GOODWILL STORE. IF YOU PURCHASE SOMETHING THERE TAKE IT WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO!!!!!
My mother and I decided to check it out Wednesday...just a few days after opening. My mother bought two pieces of furniture that one of the employees quoted her the price on. She paid and they marked the pieces "sold" waiting for us to return with help to load and a trailer.
When my guys went to pick it up they were told they made a mistake on one piece, instead of being $100 if was $349. They came home empty handed.
After multiple phone calls to Goodwill Management from MS to MD from several of us, we were apologized to and told to return and pick up the furniture at the price it was sold for.
Second trip with truck and trailer, Lucedale police threatening to arrest one of my guys and our "truth telling"(yea, right) employees stating they had credited the sale back to my Mother's debit card (yet is wasn't showing up at our bank), we returned home without the furniture again.
By now we're sick of the crap and don't even want the furniture but principle kept us fighting this very unnecessary battle.
Credit finally hit account today. Sent guys, truck and trailer (TRIP #3) again and finally was able to pick the furniture up.
SO...BEWARE OF THEIR FICKLENESS IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHOP THERE AND BE SURE TO PACK YOUR PURCHASES OUT THE DOOR AS SOON AS THEY ARE PAID FOR!!!!!

Sounds like they need management training. Must be someone new starting out. Hope it gets better there. Always, "buyer beware" anywhere you shop.

I don't know about Goodwill, but I had an uncle and my cousins mother-in-law who worked for the Salvation Army stores and they both told stories of things that occured at their stores. My uncle worked for them in Memphis, Tn. and he told us to never buy nor donate anything to them. He said that when someone donated to the S.A. he would go collect it. He'd take the articles to the warehouse and before they'd get it unloaded the people who worked in the offices there would go through it and take what they wanted. The rest of the stuff would be given to the needy. All of the stuff was suppose to be given to the needy. He once went to Graceland to pick up some things from there. They were re-doing one of Elvis' rooms and wanted to give the thing's to a needy family. And as you probably guessed none of the articles left there except with the employees. The lady worked at the Pascagoula store in the office. The same thing happens there. The Wayne Lee's store would donate meat, etc. No needy family got the meat. Again the office workers took some home with them and gave their family members the rest. So before you donate to any charity, check them out.

Well, I have been at the store since it opened and found it very satsfactory. I saw a couch there plainly marked $375.00. Salvation Army here is plain to see as they take in donations and put them out. They no longer take checks though.

You are correct about the salvation army. I have a good freind that is a bookkepper for them. They are very close to a cult and their "majors" as they call them are not much more than crooks. I quit donating to them after what I was told happens there.

I thought that was pretty steep too - it may have bed bugs or anything in it - someone's dog may have been on it - you can buy a new sofa at a discount store for that.

As far as the workers getting to see the incoming donations first, nothing wrong with that..someone has to take it out and sort it. As far as them getting to pick out what they want first, nothing wrong with that....AS LONG as they pay THE ACTUAL price that a customer would pay.

I believe it was new, had the plastic cover on it.
