So much for his higher education. He will get plenty in prison on many things they don't teach normally.

Soop you need to find out about the facts before you post. Sawyer passed the B.A.C. somebody is going to bust your ass one day for acting like a middle school girl. Nobody cares about yournarrow minded opinion.

Guy, you are the dummy. While they have to accept some degree of responsibility for their actions, still this whole thing would not have happened if the opportunity to drink had not been provided to them. Whomever supplied the alcohol is also responsible. His actions caused his friends' death regardless. he drank, I know, because I was there drinking with him and others but I didn't drive.

This was not an accident. This was a mishap brought about by the willful operation of a motor vehicle by an underage, intoxicated operator. That only one individual perished is fortunate. All of the individuals in that pickup chose to be there. These are college students who have heard their entire lives about the perils of drinking and driving, responsible drinking and even designated drivers. No doubt one of them knows personally an individual who has been apprehended for an alcohol related offense. That not one of them chose to intervene prior to the death of a companion speaks volumes - despite all the preaching, they've learned nothing. Not to hold them responsible for that behavior and display of poor judgment is doing a disservice to society. What about charging everyone else with "minor in possession of alcohol"? What about changing the rules about riding in the back of a pickup truck? Only one drunk kid was driving, but his peers were all right there with him. Every one of them needs a slice of that pie.

How could he pass a drunk test when he is still being charged with it?

Sawyer Steede was not drunk. Had he been of legal age, he would've never been charged with a DUI. His breathalyzer barely registered. Because if him being a minor there is a "no tolerance" law that was put into play. The ACCIDENT happened backing out of a parking space, not out on the roads drinking and driving. All of you get your facts straight before giving your ignorant opinions. Oh...and "Molly" you're a liar. If you were there you would know they were not "drunk". You all should show some sort of decency and let this rest. Kalebs family (and Sawyers) have been through enough. You are not accomplishing anything but causing more pain and heartache for everyone involved.

look now... ignorant rants and comments aren't necessary here. the family has forgiven him and are trying to get passed this tragedy and attempt to make everyday life bearable. what sad is that ya'll have nothing better to do than place blame on a blameless case. all they did was what almost every college kid does and an accident happened. this should be left alone and let the family deal with this without your simple minded view of a situation you have no idea how to handle unless you have gone through it and judging by your post you simply have not. this is another case of small town small minded people making statements to make themselves seem important. well guess what YOUR NOT. your from George county dude. on topix running your mouth. your a nobody with opinions that nobody else cares about but you. I wouldn't even be on here if it hadnt been brought to my attention on facebook. why you ask? because I have a life that doesn't involve trolling gossip websites looking to place my name on every board that pops up. if you still wanna get your rocks off, try springer.

I'm going to ask all you who are talking negative to shut up. There is people hurting over this and you talking crap hurts even more. And nobody is perfect Everybody makes mistakes and if you say you never have you are a lie. And if any of you have children put yourself in the parents shoes nobody wants to hear this crap and you guys are hurting people . So I suggest you guys shut your stupid comments down before karma bites you in the butt. And see I don't have to make up a screen name to hide behind my comments. If you have a problem with it you can come talk to me face to face. I'm saying this to protect and respect the family of kaleb and sawyer family.

Sawyer Steede

Sawyer Steede

STARKVILLE, Mississippi -- A hearing in the aggravated DUI case against Sawyer Tomas Steede of Lucedale has been continued until Feb. 5.

Starkville Police Chief David Lindley tells the Commercial Dispatch that the 18-year-old Steede had been scheduled to be in Starkville City Court on Monday. Steede is free on $50,000 bond.

Authorities say Steede was charged after the vehicle he was driving struck 18-year-old Kaleb Dwayne Barker also of Lucedale. Barker died Sept. 17 from injuries he suffered in the incident.

Authorities say Barker was riding in the bed of the pickup truck driven by Steede

Steede and Barker were both Mississippi State University students and were roommates.

Personally scoop you need to get a damn job and stay away from your fake screen name, grow a set and let these people know who you are Daniel!! Kaleb was a very sweet boy, with a big future ahead of him! A tragic accident happened that costed his life and another boy to have to live with it for the rest of his! It's not like kaleb was a stranger to sawyer! They were Best Friends! The Barkers claim Sawyer as one of theirs! They love him! They were a couple of teenagers having fun that ended horribly! Just like any of the adults now! I'm sure you may have crazy stories yourself the only difference is you was fortunate to make it to your what 50's! A mother has lost her son! Let her grieve and go on to something or someone else to talk about! Why is it so hard for you & others to keep your opinion to yourself? Are you that bored with your own life? Your are not a detective nor a reporter so keep your mouth shut before someone shuts it for you! I know who you are!! My best advice to you is let Kaleb rest in peace! As a friend of Sonya's I am here to tell you, she is going through enough as well as Duane & Devon! It's the holidays , this is hard enough for them not having them and this being the first holidays where he won't be there! Enjoy your family and tend to your Business ! Thank you I'm done here!
Lost her son to a drunk. Get YOUR story straight. I said more than scoop but you so dumb you don't see. drunk is drunk, no matter what. I meant what I said. He didn't say anything about Kaleb, only the driver just like I did.

No dear, get YOUR story straight. MS has a no tolerance law. If you blew a .0001 the day BEFORE your 21st birthday, you would be cited for DUI. Sawyer was NOT drunk. He is a minor who registered barely on the breathalyzer.(straight from the D.A.). The news reporters so conveniently left that very important detail out. The truth doesn't sell nearly as much as their version which in turn led all of you sheep to believe the BS they spoon fed you. Most of you, really don't have a clue. If you're so curious, or just feel the NEED to express your concern....Come see us. I am sure Sonya, Dwayne, Devon, myself, their family, any of us who KNOW would love the opportunity to put your nosy little selves at ease. No sense in hiding and posting on this BS site when you can come get the facts first hand.

I know for a fact, a tragedy happened! Let Kaleb rest in peace! You people are going to keep on being Sawyer is like a son to Sonya an dewayne! & when them two go off I can promise I will be in line along with a lot of the community who is there to bail them out an run your head in the ground! If you do not know the facts keep your damn mouth shut! It's as simple as that! I don't hide behind a screen name I am not a coward like some of you on here! Get a life an let these people grieve, I have delt with my brother being upset over this situation with him an the boys all being good friends! Kaleb grew up next door to us an they were together a lot until Kaleb went to college! If you think you or your kids haven't done things an call yourselves a saint! Grow the hell up an let this go!

Do you who make threatening comments on here go to church? Why, considering these hateful, threatening, contrarying remarks just made? Fighting another is a cowards way. Jesus says to forgive. We are hypocrits if we don't. Tragedies like this bring out the best and exposes the worse in one. Did you learn nothing from your pastor? A major theme in Jesusí teaching (itís even in the Lordís prayer) is that we can enjoy the wondrous transformation that Godís forgiveness brings, only to the degree that we are willing to forgive people who have hurt us or that we think have. Fellowship with them is the answer, not strife.(Matthew 6:12,14-15; 18:21-35; Mark 11:25-26) Jumping over the moon would be easier than forgiving some people, but if we come to Christ with sincerity, he will work the miracle of liberating us from the bondage of bitterness and empower us to forgive others and come to grips with tragedy.

With all the problems that are happening in the world and the problems that may affect or have affected you, Jesus says to forgive. Hatred, threats and violence towards others is not good. Also, love thy enemies. Hate is also caused by misguided loyalties. Often we lead many to the Lord by understanding others and being their friends, not enemies. Be humble, not vicious.

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.(1 Peter 2:1,16)

Jesus gave us advice in The Our Father Prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Amen .

If you ignore it, it is because you don't have faith in what Jesus told us. Those that believe in what Jesus told us are the ones closest to our brother Jesus and have faith in him.

Let me get my hands on your ass. Sawyer is a good kid. Kaleb wouldn't hold anything against Sawyer. So keep your mouth shut or I'll do it for you.
