My aunt was put there for rehabilitation. She was forced to share a room with a grumpy, noisy female. The nurses take half an hour to respond to any legitimate calls even if they are right there. You ask for help and they get others to do the work, as they prefer to talk and chat while residents are suffering. Rooms share bathrooms with no locks or privacy. Some residents have mental problems and should be in a facility away from normal people. Even heard an old lady constantly begging for help and getting ignored. I took auntie out after two days as I couldn't stand it anymore and used a much better home where single rooms with bathrooms are standard at the same price. Look it up, it has had health deficiencies. My heart goes out to those who are dumped there. Never again for us.

I was there today and saw a poor crippled black lady moving as best she could in her chair. One of the 'things' ordered her to "come on,----!" Then she grabbed the arm of her chair and pulled her quickly forward and she hit the railing on the wall. Then 'thing' left without looking back and checking that she was okay. I saw it!

Bottom line is: You get unable or mostly weary of caring for people who are crippled, gone batty, alzhemic, interfere with personal life and work, too expensive to care for so you dump them off the cheapest and easiest way known: give them to the government and let them deal with them. Not your problem or concern anymore.

Smith Manor is not government funded facility. Disabled veterans and veterans spouses qualify for aid if they can not live alone.

Unless you work at Glenn oaks you have no idea. So don't open your mouth and speak about something you know nothing about!! Those nurses and CNA's are wonderful. They do a great job it's not there fault that the owner (the same one that owns the one in green county) won't pay those ladies no more than he does, or spend any money to make any upgrades to an old facility. ITS NOT THEIRE FAULT YOU MORRONS!!!!! They do the best they can with what they got. And if you look online you will see that they passed the last inspection with flying colors from the state. SO EAT IT TOU BUNCH OF KNOW OT ALL CRAP STIRRERS

The way I see it, Senior citizens in America are treated poorly by many, many people, Especially the Government. Sadly,There are MANY nursing homes that residents are treated poorly in because of ppl with attitudes like Molly's. " Not your problem or concern anymore" is extremely un excusable when it comes to an aging family member.Far too many people toss their Parents into a nursing home because of this attitude. America needs to RESPECT it's senior citizens with a lot more respect than is common practice. That being said, There are nursing homes which treat residents wonderfully in George County, If it is a last resort situation, You are not forced to use just one facility, Shop around and research before placing a senior citizen anywhere, That is just common sense. May I also add that the modern generations are destroying a Country that these senior citizens have built so show a little more respect you ungrateful, greedy, idiots.

Pay is no excuse for poor treatment as you are not stuck working at that facility and there are some awesome nurses and aids at Glenn oaks but there are also some that don't care and btw, Anyone with any experience knows how to prepare for an inspection. I think inspections should be done by Family members of residents rather than a communist Government, Sadly too many ppl just DUMP parents in a nursing home and forget them so the communist Government has to inspect.

Yeah, right. The young nurses don't understand disability so they brutally push, pull and shove chairbound seniors out of their way instead of giving them a few minutes or helping them. Fire code still not up to par.

I am friends with the Lucedale Fire Chief. If you feel the fire codes are inadequate, specifically what do you want me to pass along to him? It is my understanding he did an inspection a couple weeks ago.

I think I would say something like "If you think the government is so bad get the hell out "there and do something to make this a better" country!! I do not agree with anything our governments been doing but that's why we need to educate people and find ways to make it better. I've got tons more to say but I ain't got time to say it.

I agree with mentul. Families should be doing inspections of the facilities, or relying on outside sources to provide factual information. Not relying on an ever expanding government to take over all of the checks and balances that should be our responsibility anyway. Every time we give the government more power we give up personal liberties for safety and security. We become slaves: chains, and all.

We need to take care of our seniors at home if at all possible. Nursing homes are great but way too many old people are just dumped there when the family does not want to man up and take care of them.

Rest assured I do something about it, From phone calls to emails , protests to voting. Btw, Get me the hell out. Free Country Freedom of speech as of this post, Just enjoying it while I can because freedom of speech is just one of our rights already under attack as of this posting. Keep up with what the Government is doing while the mainstream media runs stories about miley cyrus and cops shooting kids with toys. I could go deeper but don't want to put too much into your head at once.

Ummmm, I just read the report on the link you posted. In ALL categories, Glen Oaks had "Minimal harm or potential harm" in fire safety. Again, I respectfully ask where and what are the code and safety violations you referred to about the fire safety?
