He ought to quit out of shame for the way he acted. I have never had an officer act like that when I told them I have a permit and a gun. Most of the time, they are impressed, and want to know what kind of gun I carry. I would be willing to be that this cop is new, and it was the first time he had ever encountered someone who was armed and it scared the crap out of him. I'm not sure if retraining can fix that. Either way, I am sure that the man who was arrested has a nice civil case. The department ought to go ahead and write him a check.

It is essential that the mentality that a law enforcement officer can ask you to do certain things simply because he has a badge and a gun needs to be challenged by every citizen. We all have the same rights and powers as police officers. The burden of responsibility is so often placed only on them.

An LEO with a weapon is no less dangerous than a civilian with a weapon.

I encourage everyone to visit this website to better understand interactions with the police and how to protect yourself from incidents like this.

LMBO, Yes, He should. Should 4 George county deputies be fired for responding to a woman falling asleep in a hair salon? Yes, 4 deputies responded to a call of a woman falling asleep at a hair salon in the city. If you call and report a burglary, You may get a deputy out to file a report but if you're a woman and you fall asleep while getting your hair done in George county, 4 deputies rush to the scene. Whats wrong with this picture? Is martial law taking place right here at home?

There should be 2 people in each car and park some of those cars. At least two people respond 90% of the time - waste of gas.
I SHOULD KNOW

I was unable to watch the video. If the title of this topic is correct, however, then the cop should probably face disciplinary action. I agree with most everything CCW Mom said.

It's been my experience that permit holders are polite and overwhelmingly law abiding. I cannot recall but one incident where a permit holder acted irresponsibly, out of dozens of contacts with permit holders. Being a permit holder myself, I understand all of the hoops one has to jump through to obtain a firearms permit in Mississippi.

With the growing number of citizens obtaining carry permits, it would be prudent for police academies and agencies to educate officers on how to interact with these permit holders.

Nothing surprises me in George County anymore...as the 1 officer I personally knew put it,as he was leaving..."This is the most corrupt little town I've ever worked in, but the worst part is, they don't WANT it to change!" This was on Ch 5..reporter Randy Woods. By "they" he meant "the powers that be around here".

But I thought GAWD, makes everything right. There are enough churches here, you'd think this were the holy land. A dog is to food as George County citizens are to conservative, Christian rhetoric, they just eat that feces up.

an owner of a business resort to name calling in good ol Lucedale? Wow, doesn't surprise me. Was she that dangerous that the law had to be called? This county is quite small and I know that she has been there before.

When I first started in law enforcement, I wanted to eventually be Sheriff. This was many years ago, during some bad administrations. After seeing it from within, I have decided that it is completely up to the voters who elect on a smile and not on experience, to make a change. For to long elected officials in GC have been nothing more than a juvenile popularity contest and not based on experience and ability. This goes from the board all the way down. I would love to see a hard working man or woman of any color and LAST NAME elected to office in TV. Been to many Tanners, Howells, and Cochrans in office over the years like it's a family business.
