As a concerned parent of a George County School District student, I would like you to contact me at [email protected] regarding your concerns of your child's education. I have made previous post and have been appalled at the reaction so please contact me ASAP

When we have a problem with one of our children at school, we deal directly with the School system and it generally works out. I personally thing George county school system is underfunded, This is why they implement the healthy kids federal program and such, To receive the grant money. What appalled you about previous reactions? I also think entirely too many parents here use the School as a babysitter only, not getting involved in the child's education.

I have been an involved parent and do not take education lightly. I have taken my concerns directly to the superintendent's office and was treated poorly. I have concerns about my child's education and could not get a straight answer so I set up a meeting to address the matter. Upon arriving and addressing my concerns I was told that was not true and what I was saying made no sense. I was just repeating what I was told and yes according to the MDE website it did not and i was there to resolve the matter. However, I got a response that was very unexpected. I was treated very disrespectful and could not address my concerns without being accused of a being a liar as the director rolled her eyes at me.

I would also like to say that I was not trying to start a war . My child's academics are my main concern and I was not expecting this unprofessional response from the system. The whole point of a school system is to look into best interest of the children. However, I feel that I must take my concerns to the state board of education to resolve the matter.

Well it is hard to understand your situation when no one knows your circumstances. I am not going to bash our educational system when all I know is you have a problem and that is it. Give more info and clarify your situation.

I believe what you say - the quality of education is below par. Just look at the grades at the schools, that says a lots.

This post was not intended to bash anyone. It was created to allow other parents to address there concerns through private email. I simply replied to a comment posted on the topic.

I will address my issue publicly to an extent but as stated before I did not create this post to bash anyone or start a war. I would simply like what is best for my child and others. I have been trying to get a straight answer all year as far as the Rti model in regards to the tier process. To those of you you are unfamiliar with this here are a few links: http://static.schoolrack.com/files/24700/9310...

I have been asking for my child to start this process all year and can't get a clear answer.

Furthermore, I have contacted Jennifer Ortega along with many other news casters in Mississippi. If our education department won't hear me out I'm sure one of these media broadcasters will. So hold on to your seatbelts because I'm not stopping untill this is resolved.

Excellent attitude to have when it comes to children and education. Every parent should be like this.

We need more concerned parents in George County and Lucedale. They tutor and tutor just to try to get kids to pass the state tests which they take over and over!!!! It is not just a few students that are not passing. Education has to have a foundation !!!!!!

I thank God I didn't graduate from here. I finished 8th grade here, moved to Gulfport then D'Iberville, where I graduated with honor roll. Granted that was years ago, but, my point is my grades came up AFTER leaving George County School System.
