I am in a position where a loved one needs temporary placement in a facility that provides at least 4 hours of daily physical therapy. I was told that this facility can provide this care. I am not from this area and live several hours away in Kentucky. Can anyone tell me about this facility?
it's superb

This is not where you would want to put your love one.We put our mother in this place and you don't know what is going on unless you are there most of the time then when you do report things happening you get the run around. My mother didn't live long enough to take her anywhere else.Fact.

I used to work there and I assure u that place is horrible on resident care. Just go in and the smell will speak for itself. I had a loved one in there and the nurse tied them to a wheelchair because they wouldn't stop trying to get up now tell me that wasn't abuse needless to say that nurse got fired. Bottom line I swear to u I care for the elderly and I would hate to see your loved one not get the care they need.

That is called a pelvic restraint. Nursing facilities have to use them sometimes in order to keep an "at-risk" resident safe. If all other interventions have failed,(such as a personal alarm to alert the staff that the resident is trying to get up without assistance or droppping the seat of the wheel chair slightly back in order to keep the resident's center of gravity back so they can't unsafely get up), a nursing facility is OBLIGATED by the Ohio Department of Health to keep that patient safe from falling. Perhaps you should read a little before you go around blabbing such silly hogwash.

As far as odors, EVERY nursing facility is going to have some from time to time, as unfortunately, not all patients are continent. As of right now, we at Hempstead have a patient who is being treated for a UTI. This makes his urine odor very strong, and when he urinates, the whole hall smells like it for a few minutes until he is changed. Again, learn before speaking.

I agree that all nursing homes at times have a bad smell. Heartland of Portsmouth didn't for some reason but the care you got there wasn't worth it.I would advise to never even consider putting a love one in there.

A good bit of the reason that some nursing home's odors don't SEEM as bad as others is due to the placement of their doors. Heartland's entrance, for example, is far from the resident's rooms. They were smart in doing this. Rarely do you walk down random halls unless you HAVE to to get to your loved one.

My mother worked at Heart Land in Plant City Fl.as a nurse. So when it came time for her to be placed in a nursing home we first put her in Bryants in Ironton. We didn't feel she was getting the care she should have gotten, since they let several aides go,we checked out Heart Land behind Shawnee animal clinic.Yes,they showed us the best rooms and all in physical therapy but when we put my mother there she got the room looking on the parking lot.I also noticed when other people came to look around the only room they showed was the one looking out into the side yard. The care was suppose to be the best. That was a laugh and a half.I was there everyday, early to late.I could go on and on about the care but trust me and believe every word I am saying DON'T PUT A LOVE ONE IN THERE.

Let me explain a little better on how they quote un quote restrained her. they tied her legs to the wheelchair does that sound like a pelvic restraint to you because it doesn't to me. and another thing I think you'd better check your records again because it is illegal to restrain a resident in any manner.so noo your wrong again.

Lol. Wow. No it isn't illegal to restrain a resident. You're a moron. There are such things as leg restraints as well. For the record, no nurse at Edgewood has been fired for any such thing.

Thanks for all the information. I will not be talking my family member to this facility. What I have learned is when the time comes that I HAVE to seek a nursing home, we will be going somewhere where I can be there in a very short period of time and be highly involved in the daily life of my family member.

This is on all nursing homes. They will give you the sells pitch and tell you all these great things. But you have to be a great part of that patients life and be there to see that they are taken care of.I really pity anyone that is in one that has no family and can't take care of themselves. If you can take care of yourself but only need supervision it is still in doubt. So either way you go I would keep my love one at home as long as possible.
