Females (ages 18-45) of all body shapes & sizes (plus sizes preferred) are needed to participate in a study in the Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retailing, Texas Tech University on the effect of high fat meals on metabolism and hunger and satiety hormones. Subjects will be compensated!

The Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retailing, Texas tech university is recruiting adult females (ages 18-45) of all body shapes and sizes (plus sizes preferred) to participate in a research study examining the effect of high fat meals on metabolism and hunger and satiety hormones. This study involves 3 visits starting at 7:00a.m., and each visit will last approximately 7 hours. A buffet-style lunch will be provided. Before each visit you will be asked not to eat or drink anything (including caffeine) from the time you wake up until you come to the facility, bring a bathing or spandex suit, and avoid any moderate to vigorous exercise for 12 hours prior to each visit.

Measurements done at each study visit include height, weight, body fat percentage, and your metabolic rate. An intravenous catheter (IV) will be placed in your forearm and multiple blood samples will be taken. You will also need to consume one of the three high-fat liquid meals and will be provided lunch..

Your participation in this study will be strictly voluntary and greatly appreciated. You may refuse or cease your participation at any time during the study. If you participate, you will learn your body fat percentage and how many calories you burn at rest.

If you are interested in participating and would like to see if you qualify for the study or request more information, please contact Jada Stevenson, MS, RD, LD in the Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retailing, Texas Tech at email [email protected]
