Interesting article from WFAA today about Farmer's Branch looking at the possiblity of forming their own school district. Several comments were made about duplicity of services(ie superintendent, buses, administration, etc). Wow, what a profound observation.
Bonham, Sam Rayburn, Dodd City, Trenton, Leonard, Savoy, Bells, Fannindale, Ector. Let's assess and average salary of 80k to each =$720,000 just in superintendents pay. Now we also have office staff duplicated 9 times as well. I wonder what would happen if we had Fannin Co School District. We could combine the high schools into two or three. Now we have reduced principal salaries. This is a trickel up effect. All the monies saved could be poured back into Education (ie giving the kids more options in school with Better educators)

This is a dream though. Getting some our residents to give up the almighty school board postition for the betterment of the kids would NEVER happen.

What education? Look around, theres so much that the school steals from our kids knowledge...come on, they don't even have a health class...and if they did, they wouldn't know how to propering teach it (without a physical demonstration)

Can you clarify which school you would be talking about? There are some really strong teachers in almost every school we have in the county. There are also some weak teachers in every school and the children would be best served if those teachers went away.

Do you get involved with your child's education or are you one to sit back and complain about what is all wrong? If you met a teacher on the street, would they know your name? If yes then great, stay involved. If no, then you need to get involved. It is very obvious to a good teacher as to which parents are really concerned with their child's education and the ones who are only seen when a child has gotten into trouble. And then they are always quick to defend the child and place blame elsewhere.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
