When the convention doors open at 8:00 a.m., some brothers and sisters can be seen running, pushing, and shoving to obtain the “best” seats.

Injuries have resulted because of this type of behavior.

This type of thing doesn't happen for the most part.
Jw's are quite conscious of their behavior and their love for the brotherhood.
It has also been observed that at some facilities numbers of brothers have arranged to be at the gates or doors of the convention building by five or six o’clock in the morning so that they would be there when the building opened and could rush in to save whole sections of seats, very often the very choicest ones, by laying magazines and books on them.

Actually that happenes at all conventions.
The brothers have in place attendents to help with that specific problem.
Years ago they used to hold the conventions in Fresnoos arena.
It was very hot in there.
Everyone wanted to sit under the large ceiling fans in there in the upper center level.
There was most definalty pushing and shovilng and outright running to save seats at 7am when it opened.
The normal plan was for a person to have one male in the family doing volenteer work so that they could get seats for the family and friends, even though you were not to save seats other than for your car group.

If you think this only haoppened at a couple of conventions then you haven't been to more than a couple of conventions.

Even 2 years ago, the last convention I attended, there was this mad rush of people, men and women tryinmg to get to the best seats for the drama!

It was always a mad house in the mornings. And what was worse, is you could be first in line and still go in and find out the best seats had magazines drapped over them for row upon row. Now how did that happen?
Easy, the elders and ministerial servants that were going early got them all.
Saved them for their closest friends in there congregations.
I know that is how I always had good seats. The elder that lived across the street from us always saved 2 extra seats for us as well as his family of 4.
We could then wait and go to the conventions about 15 min before it started.

<quoted text> And Your point?.
Bills have to be paid.
To me the point is they won;t charge admission, it is all free, except we need to guilt you not paying for the time you spend using electricity and the expenses of the rental of the building ect. In other words, they ought to just charge admission.
They are going o "remind you" of the need to pay those b ills daily and most especially after lunch on Sunday.

The JW's on this board don't like it when Jace reminds them that he served as the Convention Accounts Servant because he tells it like it is.

At the 1994 “Godly Fear” District Convention, did you note improvement in the matter of saving seats?
Some progress has been made, but we still need to be conscious of this reminder: SEATS MAY BE SAVED ONLY FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS AND ANY WHO MAY BE TRAVELING WITH YOU IN YOUR CAR.
We are there as guests of the Society.

I am guessing the lessons of The Ten Virgins can't be applied here.

Probably not since they are there as guests of the Society.

Then again, the marriage feast is all about the Society's faithful and discreet slave. tee hee
