Many of the public schools in our district are exemplary, but as a state, Texas is in the back of the pack. We can do better. I believe that Texas should lead the nation by cutting the Department of Education and implement a new Bureau of Education that is run privately by real education experts. I believe our greatest investment is in our children and providing them high quality education.
Like virtually every federal department, the Department of Education has only made things worse. Our educational standing in the world has plummeted since the DOE was formed. There are children in a few 3rd world-countries that are getting a better education than our kids here at home. We need a better education system that doesn't involve politics, personal and religious ideology. The Department of Education is hurting the tax-payers, the economy, our teachers and our kids. We all deserve a better system than the current one we have now. Decisions need to be made at the local level. Let's get rid of government bureaucracy that is holding back higher salaries for our teachers and a higher education for our kids. I'm running for State Representative District 47. Education is on my list of priorities. To know more. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Raul-Roy-Camach... http://www.rcamacho.us Raul "Roy"Camacho |

We need to realize that the greater majority of kids are not going to college for one reason or another. We need to be training these kids towards a career. The kids that do want to go to college need more rigorous classes to prepare them.

Judged: 1 1 College is not for everyone. People are so easily programmed to believe that having a college degree you will have success or at least better opportunities. I know this is a little off topic from the forum subject above, but at the same time there is some correlation. I hate to ruin the party, but we have an increasingly large percentage of Americans that have Bachelors and Master degrees and sometimes more than one degree earning only $15.00 an hour or less. Many Americans who were Directors at one point now working at low wage retail and service jobs. Students that got technical training (air-conditioning, electrician, mechanics etc...) in high-school or right after high-school have more stability in their field of work than those with college degrees. |
