The North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education did a fantastic job bring the rodeo fund raiser to Bay Minette. There were a lot of people working very hard to put this on.
Thanks

I hope they spend the money at schools south of I-10. Not much excellence north of it.

O.K. then. It's a FACT that there is not much excellence north of I-10. Your school board has turned the schools there into the Vigor of Baldwin County.

Actually, there is plenty of excellence in North Baldwin. I guess you haven't noticed it because you are too busy criticizing and being negative. I know the "facts" better than you because I live, teach and have children in the schools here. Do you?

Just because I choose not to agree with your rose colored glasses version does not mean I am being negative.
There are some things in North Baldwin that are excellent, just not the schools there. With the exception of LeAnn Overstreet (God rest her soul) ALL of the principals there have been promoted to their level of incompetence. I offer Steve Thomas as a shining example of north Baldwin's alleged excellence.
I did have children in the schools in north Baldwin until I moved them to private schools where the piss poor teachers that should be fired can't hide behind union tenure.
Both of them received scholarships that they would have NEVER been eligible for had they continued in the north Baldwin public schools.

T.O. please...
What is your problem with someone being successful?
I had a public education, worked my way through college no NAACP, no government grants or government loans. I made my own way.
I have been unemployed, thanks to Jimmy Carter. I spent 9 months out of work and lost everything I had, and I damn well didn't wait for, or hope for the government to take care of me.
Now that I am able to make things better for my children you want to try to take that away or belittle it somehow. I do not and will not feel guilty about others being more unfortunate than me. Many like yourself had the same opportunitites or better than me and chose not to make the most of them. Your laziness and inability to pull yourself up by your own boot straps is NOT my problem. Nor is it my problem that there are many others like you that want to have a parasitic existence off of people like me that can and will step up. Your laziness and inability to support yourself is why you feel the way you do. I understand, but will not tolerate you or anyone else surviving from my hard work. Get yourself educated and get a job. You will start feeling better about yourself immediately.

I have been blessed with employment all my life too.Jimmy Carter inherited that mess from Nixon/ford.Similar to Obama's plight.actually,I don't trust any of them. You have been lucky, not smarter than others, just lucky,as I.However, not knowing you,I can tell you have never been in any of the depressed areas of this Great Nation that I so honorably defended.
Not every area has employment, and it is worse now. Most of those unemployed people are workers displaced by this economy.True,we tend to expect the government to get us out of it,since they are in fact the ones that created it.With our mismanaged money.I have no ill feelings towards you,but more like empathy.
You name minorities, claim others to be inferior, have a naive view of of subjects you obviously know very little about. But,I suspect you always had a crutch of some sort.Somebody to lean of.May not have been the public option. My opinion is,we need social security and disability, housing and food for the poor based on community service as repayment,if they are not disabled, and a food program with health care for Americans only. Those are very basic and simple things we can afford. We have to take care of our own, like it or not.
We support other nations with massive amounts of aid programs, and that has to be curtailed. Why is more money going out for others, and people are hungry and homeless here?
Well,ma'am,I hope for your sake, and others that we do not slide into another depression, educated or not,you will need help.As a veteran,I can tell you, even before 911,you are made to feel safe by the military's many efforts, both public and more so,covert. We are at war, have been for the last 30 years, and were almost totally crippled financially following 911.Proof that we are very vulnerable, more than we would care to admit.
Good luck with your theories.

Now your're going to play the vet card.
I lost both brothers in Vietnam, so stop with that line. I nothing but respect for those that defend our freedoms, it comes at a very high price. My brothers paid it and subsequently the rest of my family did too, especially my mother. If you are old enough to remember and have not been corrupted by liberal re-writes of history the poor white trash were the first drafted, i.e. my brothers. Someone to lean on???? Nobody. My entire family was deceased by the time I was 23.
I have been in places where there was abject poverty and double digit unemployment. Some of my good fortune was luck, agreed. I only wish I had the time to post the links where your boy Clinton and the Dems forced the banks into giving the loans that have nearly crippled this country. Bush had to go along with some of the Dems on other banking fiascos to get some of the things he wanted passed. Don't get me wrong I think "W" was the most fiscally liberal president we ever had and he helped push us the rest of the way down the path we have gone.
I would really like to know where I claimed that minorities are inferior as you have accused me of? Where did I talk about any minorities at all? The only reference made was a brief comment about the NAACP. You must be the racist, thinking a blurb like that is pointing a finger at minorities.
There is one place we agree and that is on foreign aid. I think we should withdraw and cut off funding from the U.N. Unless the country is one of our allies and is truly in need. Then and only then do we give them our tax dollars.
The federal government should only do the original 3 things that was intended. 1. Defend the Borders, 2. Pave the roads and 3. Deliver the mail. State governments should take care of the rest. Yes, I know we would have to re-create our tax system.
Good luck with YOUR theories.

Now you are double talking!First, the poor and uninsured were less educated than you,now you claim to have seen it first hand.As for the 'vet card',I was just stating fact. You can insult me all that you want, you see things through the mind of a protected person,IE:"I made it,so everyone else shout too".You seem to be average,or perhaps a tad above average intellectually, but certainly not in the range your ego has placed you at.You forget about the economic expansion under Clinton, the redistribution of wealth, once again stolen after a Democrat left office.I doubt he would have allowed the banks to do what they did.And he certainly was not perfect.
Remember,he was one of the students at Kent State that Reagon ordered the National Guard to shoot at.The only time in our history, our Military turned on it
s citizens Tienanmen square style.Lest we forget. The opposing party has a way of making the other look bad, after the fact.Working for the VA during his tenure,I recall the Republican controlled congress deciding against him on several occasions.Remember?Clinton would not re-finance the Government until they voted his way!I worked in critical care and had to get to work, without pay, while still paying for my boys daycare.I was a single dad also.So go on and blame Clinton,he fixed it all too,you should review history,or listen to those of us who were actually there.

The theme of this posting was Saddle Up for Schools which was a successful event to raise money to support our schools. You two have changed it into a political battle. Since you did that let me put my two cents into it.
Noone person or the government made people go buy houses they could not afford or run up credit card bills they could not pay, that was done by individual choice. Jimmie Carter actually started the push to make home ownership more affordable to the lower income people and it grew into a free rein of mortgages for anyone that could sign their name. Every President since Carter has played a part it this, now Obama gives a person $8000 to buy a house they can not afford. All of this falls back to the American citizen. Educated or not you have a vote and the fact that only about 30% choose to use the power they have to elect our leaders is really the problem. If people like you two would stop name calling and misquoting history for your on purpose and look at the future and what is good for one is good for all then we could all work to make the mistakes of the past go away. Don't use a blind post to scream your position work in local state and national politics and make a change.
