We need a hospital, but does the County need to own it? Why not have it privatize? The hospital keeps going in the red. Why? Is it mismanaged? If LCGH can't keep in the black- no more bail outs from the county.
Keep it simple, keep it small, keep it cost effective. Treat the emergencies and send the patients on to bigger hospitals. We don't really need to compete with the big city hospitals, because WE JUST DON"T HAVE THE PATIENT NUMBERS (and payments) to support all the "state of the art" equipment.
Most people don't mind going elsewhere for the impt testing, surgeries, second opinions, etc, because you expect to do so when you live in such a rural area.

if the people who work in the cafitaria are still getting their meals free, and just pretending to pay them like they did when i worked in that department. it also happened while a friend of mine worked there before i did. just watch and see the ones who work there when they go through the line, they say i'll catch you later.

I agree. There are a lot of people at the top end of management that are eating a very large free lunch. Burch says he is only interested in revenue generating programs. The fact is...he had better get interested in some cost cutting or that place is not going to survive as we know it. Privatization is necessary. That is the only way to get the employee's there out of the state retirement system and into a 401k alternative. In a county with a population base as small as ours, the impending pension payments will bankrupt lewis County if that isn't done.

If our county manager, hospital board and legislators start skimming the cream off the top and quit giving all Salaried employees big raises because they are doing such a good job, we wouldn't be in this shape. So Burch was given a big raise makes 50,000 roughly more than the last CEO because he was doing so good with the hospital. well what the hell happened suddenly that they are so into the red. I think This county is either going to have to create more jobs or unemployed will be through the roof. Share the wealth you greedy Salaried workers. how about you give back you raise like the hourly workers have had to do many times or go without any pay raises and more work piled on your desk as they cut jobs and dump the load on others. We need a whole new board of legislators that want to help this county, not line a few pockets. Before long all money for medical will be going to other counties because every thing will go private like the fiasco going on at Mental Health. Oh they will be fine...yeah , tell that to some of the patients who still have no doctors, because they are all leaving. Next will be Mountain View, then Public Health, Hospice right down the line as the county will no longer be the employer of these idol medical facilities.

If you don't like the hospital then don't go there. Just drop dead instead.

Pensions will not go away. If the hospital is privatized, valuable services will be cut. Quality of care will suffer, and attitude of employe's will be less than satisfactory.

The hospital has money coming from the government. The legislators, need to talk with the senators, and congresman to get that money. Then, the hospital needs to look at each department to make sure that the efficiency of that department is to par. Cutting employee's to the bone is not the answer. From the outside looking in, I agree that they are top heavy in management.
The savings alone from that area could easily be over 1M per year.

Privatizing that hospital would take all control from the county, and that is NOT THE ANSWER.

Most hospitals that were once affiliated with governmental entities no longer are. They have been privatized or set up as not for profit corporations. Why is that? Perhaps those who reached those decisions know something you don't. No, pensions do not go away. However their costs CAN be contained. The taxpaying public can no longer afford to give everyone some of these lucrative benefits. Even the federal government is beginning to look for ways to contain the cost of entitlements. The time to deal with the impending foreclosure of a home is not 2 days before the forclosure--it needs to be dealt with when one realizes one can no longer afford the home. Wisdom dictates a cost containment approach at that hospital. The time is now, not ten years from now. Of couse, these are difficult decisions in a small county where so many people are related to one another and such decisions might impact a family menmber.

First of all... Im sure you are one of the welfare people that had to work to "earn" your (welfare) check! Obviously you couldnt cut working in the kitchen. They may get their food for free but thats just a little price to pay for the things they do in that hospital. Its not just preparing food... its serving to residents, cleaning the dinning rooms, cleaning carts ect. So to come on here bitching about something so insignificant as them getting their meals for free is just petty bullshit. You really need to grow up and look at the big picture. Maybe try to get a full time job and work for once so the people that do work their asses off dont have to support you anymore. Then maybe you can have something to bitch about.

The pensions are not the problem as Rick Lucas will have you believebut rather its the way the pension funds are managed by the same crooked politicians that run the state.
Everu person who gets a pension pays into the pension fund for years yet the money they invezt gets mis managed.
How is that fair?
The people who work earn those pensions.
They arent freebies like the welfare system

Hopeing that the hospital and emergency doctors at Lewis County General can find an answer that both sides can live with, I for one do NOt want new doctors comeing in to replace the ones that are there, The doctors they have now are very careing, how do we the public know what these other doctors are all about, can we trust them to give us the care that we need, seeing how we will only be a number to them and not a liveing person....Makes you wonder

As an employee of the ER, trust me there is a lot that you all don't know. If the public only knew what these doctors were really all about, you'd be running for the hills. It amazes me that you can blindly support these idiots. They are way overpaid and could care less about the people of Lewis County until they want to cry out and complain to the public when they don't get their way. They should have been ousted a long time ago. I give the Admin team a lot of credit for keeping their mouths shut. Believe me, I will be telling it all for everyone to hear. I'm sick of this Lewis County bullshit. Two are completely incompetent and one is a complete pervert. But then again, you all deserve what they dish out.

Yes, those of us who work with them every day do know the truth. It will all come out in due time. It's funny how that the people complaining about them leaving are the same ones that bitch about the wait times in the ER. And to answer a lot of questions, no, it shouldn't take anywhere near the amount of time it does to get through the place. They are lazy, rude and don't really care about people. Being there 4, 5, and 6 hours is completely ridiculous and we all know it.
