beaver river will win 2 or 3 games this year and there AD will be happy with it because they have 25 to 30 kids on the roster as soon as they have trouble with numbers again you will see them drop football

why are they winning on the modified level and not the varsity level
I can not believe i just took the time to actually read this whole thing, it was such a waste of time although in a way interesting to see the different opinions and how judgmental people can be from time to time... anyways about that comment above Curious:
Modified level sports are a COMPLETELY different level of competition than at the varsity level, ESPECIALLY in boys sports. In modified the kids that happen to hit puberty early are the big guys on the field but then as soon as they hit varsity and 95% of their competition has now hit puberty they are the smaller players on the field which is obviously a problem when you're trying to tackle someone who's double your height and weight.
And in response to the rest of this forum...
a good sports team takes BOTH committed players AND a good coach. you can't blame one w/o in some way blaming the other. Football is an expensive sport to have at a school which is why some high schools just opt out of having it; Beaver River football may not always be successful and may have lost good talent over the years but just be thankful they do have a program at all.
Some of you were saying that soccer is a girl sport and is taking players away from football. Well first off if you see soccer as a girl's sport and it IS taking football players away then I'm forced to come to the conclusion that football must also be considered a girls sport. Second soccer (futbol) has been around for MANY more years than football has been that's for sure.
All in all some of you have good points but you don't approach this the right way. you can't fix a problem by attacking it from behind. Take the steps that you can take to help improve the programs you feel are important and STOP taking it out on the people in leadership; you may not agree with everything they say or do but they are in leadership so respect them! And STOP making assumptions about things you actually know nothing about, find the FACTS (not someone else's opinion and then decide.

i have watched all of there games this year and if they had a coaching staff that knew what they were doing they would be 5 and 0 instead of 2 and 3 i dont think parents and alumni are satisfied with just having a program when they are losing games because of poor coaching

I can't find the standings for Beaver River Football but if I recall, they've won more than 2 games so far this year. Anyone know that answer?

i will give them credit on a good season if you look at the standings and they went 5-2 in a very weak division we will see what they do next year with this coaching staff puddington is 10-23 in 4 years i want to see what he does next year with less talent when he has to coach instead of talent making him look good

Just wondering why it's a "weak division" this year when they are winning, but in the past you say Beaver River was just poorly coached? Also don't worry about next year there are many new talented kids moving up from modified. It doesn't sometimes matter what you have for talent, if you don't have a coach that CAN coach that talent the team will go nowhere, so like Puddington or not he's taking this team of talented kids far this year and I say good for them...go all the way. Good luck Beaver River Footbal and continued success.

Good Luck at Onadaga Boys! you'll do great. See you guys in the stands! Every year the coaches and the players are doing better so you cant blame it all on the school or certain people. seriously if they could take on a higher string and beat the with a fair game in the semi's then they should get some recognition. thanks 7 news for making them the topic of the sports a few days ago. Good Luck Guys go all the way! the domes waiting lol.

Once again you have not done your homework!!! They have more talent coming up than they are losing... I think I have come to a conclussion that you are a past coach that thinks your better than the one they have now and want recognition that you never got. Go stroke your ego somewhere else and give these guys the credit that is due for what they did and what they are doing. Starting a Pop Warner program to build kids skills ealier will start to pay off in a couple of years. Everything takes time, give credit where it's due.

I think it would be nice for everyone to get their facts straight before opening their mouths and cowering behind their fake names on topix. As a captain of the team this year, I would like to thank everyone for their positive comments about the team, we worked very hard to get as far as we did, and as for everyone who says the beavers won't have a team next year, will just have to wait and see. And as for everyone saying that "beaver river sucks" and this and that about the Lowville and Beaver River rivalry, the truth of it is that we get along with the players from Lowville great and I believe that you are people caught up in the old rivalry that just take it a little too far. Don't get me wrong it would be great to play Lowville again, I personally never got to in my high school career, but I don't think that people need to talk about us like we hate Lowville because we don't. Lowville had a tough year, it happens, we've had more than our share and I don't appreciate people, that don't even play or have kids playing, and get on topix and badmouth Beaver River just because we had a good season and Lowville didn't. I've said my peace.
