don't know what's going on and neither do the poor workers. have no idea the doctor i'm getting either but my appt was messed up and another month i will see who my new doctor will be, maybe. The county made another big mistake that will never get straightened out again.

I don't have much too say except that I am pleased to see people debate about a matter in a fairly respectable way. Emotions and feelings can be different. Compared to most topics on this site and the rumors that go around on it, it is nice to see people trying to be as civil as possible and talking about a real issue. Thanks all, I have no opinion on this matter but have enjoyed reading all of your opinions. I know we can get a little rude iuth each other at times but this is truely what this site is hear for. People to debate and share opinions. Many others should take note of how this topic is being handled. We do not all agree but we are all human and love somebody and are loved by somebody as well. the services we have needed for a family member & received from LC Mental Health will now be fulfilled by the Jefferson Community Health Center in Watertown. I want qualified people, not people with no degree....just my opinion..

About two wks left until Transitional Living takes over. They have about 3 therapists hired, no Dr or nurse practioner, and no plan for what they are going to do with the clients that need to be seen. I thought there was supposed to be a definitive plan in place, and that there was some Office of Mental Health regulation about making sure the needs of the mentally ill were provided for. Everyone get in touch with your family doctor and get a back up plan in place for your medicine needs; start checking the phone books and scouting for other agencies- like the one mentioned in Jefferson Co. Contact your legislators to commplain. Contact the Director of COmmunity Services, Sarah Bullock??and the Community Service Bd to complain- Charlie Truax??, Tom Yousey?? someone needs to insure the health and well being of the those with mental health disorders. The Legislators sold you all out and don't give a crap.

[re Transitional Living]

Transitional Living was at the Mental Health walk and said they are having a meet and greet on 5/31 noon to 4 at Lowville Elks. Come meet who they hired. Come ask questions. It's about time they let us know what is going on.

LCGH was interested in taking over the Lewis COunty Mental Health clinic, but justifiablly felt it should be a slower, step by step ,well planned take over. That wasn't quick enough for the Legislators. So they let an out of county business take over. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB!! LCGH certainly has experience operating clinics. They may have needed some education on specific mental health issues, but certainly communication btwn the drs and mental health professionals would have been much improved. In addition LCGH has an excellent social work dept, with alot of knowledge and experience. I think the County will find out they made a very big mistake!

They will never admit they made a mistake. People are now waiting two months to get an appointment with new doctors that aren't even here yet. Current doctors have left. Today Dr Goyal left. Sad, when people need these services and there are no doctors to provide them. People will be going without their medication and who knows what will happen. I feel sorry for anyone that doesn't understand the needs of People with mental health disorders. It's a sad situation, but Maybe the idea of a scenic railroad will help. Give some people a job and the rest can ride the trail when they feel like they are gonna lose it. Just sickening. They are not even prepared to take over tomorrow.

Well Prissy, no one is name calling here and I do have insurance. I pay for my healthcare. and you are the idiot. No one is asking the taxpayer to pay for anything. God forbid you or a family member ever need medical services and have no insurance or a doctor to go to. Maybe you should keep your prissy butt off this bad website called topix. I think you hit the nail on the head. Too bad it wasn't prissy's head...lol...I think she can run the country in her mind. go for it, you seem to have all the answers Prissy. NOT. RESPOND. Someone as antagonistic and miserable as she obviously is, NEEDS people to react and respond to her nonsensical comments, in order to get the green light to continue on with more of her fruity talk.

People with mental health issues come from all walks of life, have all kinds of income levels and insurances. Some are famous movie stars, drs, lawyers, businessmen. Those with mental health disorders are not second class citizens. They are individuals with real health needs who need compassion and understanding. They deserve to have their health needs reasonably met in their community. Perhaps the reason that people with other insurances or private pay were not the main consumer at the Lewis Co MH Ctr was most likely due to the attitude and narrow-mindness of most of Lewis Co citizens. I am betting those private pay (or other insurance) individuals went out of county so no one would see them receive services, judge them, talk about them, and make them feel worse about themselves.
