Thi is simply unbelievable! We can'tafford this crap anymore. Somebody has to do something. Think of all the public emloyees that are in the state retirement system--the villages, the towns, the counties, the schools and even Lowville hospital. IT IS NOT A MATTER OF JEALOUSY! Those who work in the private sector are expected to provide this 21-29 percent of each public employees salary to this pension system. We don't have ANYBODY providing ANY pension for us--we have to provide our own!
Farmers, loggers, small business people--all provide their own. Yet these hogs have unionized against the public and expect us to pay theirs AND ours. These pensions are going to bankrupt every public municipality/entity in this state. How is anybody going to be able to pay the property taxes to fuel this system as we go forward? The jobs and the money ain't there! Elected officials have got to do something about this or the rest of us are going to have to move out of New York as MANY already have! Thes bums should have to provide their own damn pensions through IRA's/or 401K's like everybody else!

maybe u should stop bitching about it and take the civil service test, all u need is a GED. Don't be pissed at us because we took a state job and planned for our retirement. AND most of the state workers also take out a second retirement (LIKE DEFFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN, because i'm sure u don't even know what that is) to cover what our pensions don't. ITS CALLED PLANNING AHEAD. MAYBE U SHOULD LOOK AT "YOUR" LIFE CHOICES AND DECIDE WHICH WRONG PATH "YOU" CHOSE!! I think we (state workes) EARN our paychecks, appearently there are alot of people that don't want the job. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. I don't want a 401k, thats why I "CHOSE" a state pension!!

You chose the path of socialism. I chose the American way. Traditionally, Americans stood on their own two feet. That is the path I chose. You chose the path of socialism (quite akin to communism)--in which wealth is taken from someone and given to someone else. You chose the public employee path of unionizing against your friends, neighbors, and even your own relatives---a path which seeks to shove a pole up their butts to force them to pay for something they shouldn't have to. People that don't work for a government entity have to pay their own pension but morons like you think they should pay yours too? Move to Russia!

Oh, by the way, I do know about your "deferred compensation" plan. It is generous. If you choose it, you do contribute to it. it works somewhat like an IRA. Again, what makes you people so special that you have opportunities that are not given to others? Why should you get a state pension and be allowed a second plan as well? Someone up above used the word GREED. How appropriate! The days of such generous pensions are numbered. Right now, people are getting their school taxes in the mail. In January, they will get their county taxes. Both are increasing substantially so clowns like you can have your perks. Economic necessity is finally getting the attention of politicians. That results in change. Hold on to your wallet and good luck! Your perks will be adjusted downward or your employee numbers will be reduced. There is only so much money. Would you rather have all your perks or would you rather see your fellow state employee keep his job? I think I know--for your greed is obvious.

The problem is selfish animals like you. You greedy beasts work for employers who take the hard earned money of taxpayers and invest it in the stock market--hoping to get a return to pay for your pensions. The stock market had some rough times a while back. Everybody knows that. Stock market corrections are historical. There have been many of them. This time though, those who manage your pensions want to recover thir stock market losses very quickly. So what do they do? They go to the taxpayers again and tell them they must make up for THEIR (translated YOUR) stock market losses. Bend over boys, we got this pole to shove in! I have money in the stock market. I lost some of it too. Who the hell is going to make up for my losses??!! I'll have less money for my retirement because nobody will make it up for me. Why the hell do you think you are so special? Why should you be so privileged? If your pension fund lost money--oh well, that should mean you'll get less in the end. Everybody else does. Call it anything you want---it is socialism. Get old,--retire--enjoy that welfare check on the back of the private working man. These days, it is the American way--isn't it? Just plain greed.

Don't blame a state worker. Because at a very young age they thought about their retirement instead of going to college and partying for 5 years after they graduate!! You go ahead and try to work 1 day in a prison, let alone 25 years!!! I bet you would high tail it out of there on the first day!!! Even with the great retirement we still can't find enough people to take the job because it's so dangerous! If you want to retire at 46, then take the job, There's severaL job openings, but people are afraid or don't have the BALLS to take it. I got news for you, when my husband retires, I will retire too and you will be paying for me as well.

The only thing stupid is the propensity of elected officials to give shirkers a free ride. Earn your retirement like others do. Don't stand behind some pulic employee union and condone its efforts to shove a pole up the rear end of your neighbors, friends, and relatives in an effort to force them to pay for your retirement as well as struggling to pay for their own!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY U SEEM TO THINK U PAY FOR OUR RETIREMENT???? WE PAY INTO OUR OWN RETIREMENT, EVERY PAYCHECK THEY DEDUCT MONEY FOR THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM-THAT U DON'T PAY INTO. NOT ONE F*CKING PENNY OF THAT IS YOURS!!!!!! WE MOST DEFINATLY DO NOT GET A FREE RIDE. EARN OUR RETIREMENT, LET ME THINK ABOUT THAT: everytime a aids/hepititis infected inmate throws piss, sh*t, and blood on u while your conducting rounds, i think i "earned it", everytime we have to break up 2 gang members from fighting with a shank, i think i "earned it", everytime a inmate smuggles contraband in from a visit and i have to sit there and watch him sh*t for 3 dayS then dig through it, i think i "earned it", whenever i find an inmate hanging in his cell dead and blue and i gotta cut him down and do cpr to try to save this "baby raper" i think i earned it, AND I DON'T EVEN WANNA GET INTO WHAT HAPPENS IN A RIOT! 25 years of working in a depresssed envionrment like this I THINK I F*CKING "EARNED" EVERY F*CKING PENNY, AND THEN SOME. SO GO F*CK YOURSELF AND "ENJOY" YOUR SAFE BEHIND YOUR DESK JOB AND HAVE SWEET DREAMS, AT LEAST YOU "KNOW" U WILL B GOING HOME IN ONE PIECE EVERYDAY, WE DON'T HAVE THAT "PERK". BECAUSE YA KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH THIS SH*T AND IT DOESN'T MAKE MY DREAMS VERY PEACEFULL, THIS SH*T STAYS WITH YOU FOREVER!!!!

" I have money in the stock market. I lost some of it too. Who the hell is going to make up for my losses??!! " -your always looking for a hand out aren't ya. SEE THIS IS JUST MORE OF "YOUR" BAD PLANNING, I KEEP MINE IN STABLE, I KNOW IT DOESNT EARN AS MUCH, BUT I DON'T LOSE any WHEN THE MARKET CRASHES ( BECAUSE I LIKE TO PLAN THAT FAR AHEAD)

I don't know where u get ur info from, but i think your mis-informed and need to check ur sources. i think you made some bad career choices and instead of accepting your regretes you want to point fingers at the people who made responsible and realistic career choices. maybe u need to rethink your irresponsible choice and find out where u , obviously, went wrong! sorry i know the truth hurts!! but its time for u to put on your big boy/girl pants, pick up ur shitty life and move on and stop blaming other people for your problems!!

NOBODY IS BITCHUNG ABOUT YOUR DAMN SALARY!
State Worker, you have got to be a little on the dumb side. Educate yourself! Your pension funds are invested in the stock maket. The fund lost money in the recent stock market fall. Hence, the pension fud doesn't contain as much as its managers want it to. They expect the taxpayers to contribute more (even though they lost it) to make it up. Your pension DOES come out of the taxpayers pocket! Next year, the taxpayers will pay roughly 21% of your salary into your pension fund. If you are a cop or a firefighter, the taxpers will pay roughly 29% of your salary into your pension fund. Those are facts. Why should anybody else pay for your stock market losses? Nobody pays for mine! I don't expect them to. But apparently you expect the taxpayer to pay for yours! Translation: GREED

i pay about $550 a month into MY retirement, but hey,$20 was close!! most of us don't live 18 years past retirement - and thats a fact!! and our health insurance is paid for out of out retirement

and im pretty sure i pay my share of taxes $768 a month to be exact, and $300 a month for health insurance

listen i don't wanna argue with u 2 i'm just saying we don't get a "free ride" and we do contribute to everthing (taxes, retirement, health insurance, def comp/iras ...) your comparing us to welfare scumb bags and thats simply not the case. thats ur opinion and your entitled to it but i think ur exaggerating it and making it sound worse than it is- this is my opinion and entitled to have it. i never claimed to be educated or to have all the right answers, remember only need a ged. i am young (still in my 20's)and just tring to make responsible choices and planning for my future the best way i can, i've worked hard (since 16) and stayed focussed for the oppertunitty of a young retirement. i don't have any childern and thats one of the reasons i think i will be able to retire young, all the money people are spending on childen i get to bank it in my retirement. life is all about choices right now im happy with, hopefully in 18 years it will be worth it. good luck to ya
