Yes we do have enough places to buy tractors. They're here to put the local guys out of business. BTW, the building is funded by OUR tax dollars on EDZ land. Doesn't seem right does it. Your local government at work!

How are they gonna sell any tractors when the famers in the area are barely making ends meet? I would think they could've come up with a better type of business for that location.

Let the EDZ put another few out of business. To bad so sad. Your tax dollars hard at work to put you out of business.

tractor supply sells all sorts of things, clothing, dog food, large animal feed, wood stoves, really just a bunch of stuff that i could never afford to buy from a mom and pop store. I have made major purchases there. I will still shop at local places too just as i always have but i am sorry some stuff you cannot afford to buy local.

Yep, the county could be making a mistake again. Look at the revenue from the windmills that was in the EDZ and now the state took them off. They didn't create enough jobs that were permanent. I hope this one works out, we're damned if we do, damned if we don't, but I too will continue to shop local for most things.

It's not as if Tractor Supply will be offering well paying jobs. Why is this state giving money to businesses like Walmart and tractor supply. I thought EDZ zones were for businesses with well paying jobs. Maybe a computer center, a "chip" plant. WHat about a manufacturer of windmill parts??? Those are good paying jobs. This state is so stupid..wasting taxpayer money to put hard working small business people out of business. So, Tractor Supply comes in and hires 50 people. They take business away from Farmers co op and Steel's. Those two businesses either close or lay off. So you loose 70 jobs to gain 50. And the tax payer has paid for Tractor Supply to come to town. So if you are happy getting your "stuff" cleaper at tractor supply, I guess it doesn't matter to you..does it???

well apparently the Town of Lowville didn't want them here since reading the article in the J&R last week regarding the building permit issue. apparently the town of Lowville is holding up issuing a permit and the Tractor supply place is being built without one officially issued, it's pending. that should tell the tractor supply place something.

The planning board could barely decide if they'd allow a store on this site. I doubt a chip plant would have been allowed. It's not like there are 10 proposals a week coming to the county, town or village for businesses looking to open.

The merchants should do more to be user freindly then . I needed a $7.49 filter that Whites Farm Supply did not have in stock . They wanted me to drive 30 miles oneway to pay for it before they would order it. Gas was almost $4 a gallon then . I now go to Monroe Tractor in Adams Center . Thank You Whites for showing me a great place to do business out of our county .

If the IDA and EDA would actively do their jobs and go out recruiting companies and businesses, maybe there would be a few more proposals per year. Even if the companies pay PILOT as a result of being in the zone, they buy locally and the employees spend locally. As it is, expecting a web site to do their work for them is like expecting your property taxes to go down.

I stand corrected. Tractor Supply will be hiring 15 people. How much has NY State spend through the EDZ to get them to build here? Isn't that rediculous? I thought the IDA and EDZ were to encourage industrial development. They're doing a lousy job.

Tractor Supply does not sell tractors. They sell just about everything else a farmer would want.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
