this past week end there was a "mud fast" ib Turin on private property. apparently that's not good enough for the ATV morons. They were in streams where they don't belong on areas not open to ATVs and they had Lewis County permits on them. Give these people an inch and they grab for a yard.

If Bob Diehl and Lucas can't control their outlaws, maybe some trails need to be shut down.

Was this your property, or are you surmizing like a typical treehugger? How do you know the people riding the atv's didn't have permission. Also if you felt these people were breaking a law, you should report them to the proper authorties, not complain in this Forum

I'll complain where I want, thank you very much. Folks need to know the attitudes of these outlaws and quite frankly, not so "Big Al", you sound typically defensive. If objecting to ATV riders riding in streams makes me a "treehugger" so be it. Guess that makes you a "tred head".Would have reported but was unable at the time. In the future I expect we will see a higher DEC prescence.

I'm not going anywhere. First, before you call any body stupid, you should learn to read. My first post said the ATVs were in streams in areas they don't belong-LEARN TO READ STUPID.
As for a "major" part of the county for thirty years, now that's a laugh. The ATVs should never have been allowed on the roads. It's become an outlaw past time, aided and abetted by local governments that either didn't know what they were doing or someone they knew made money off a bar room frequented by ATVs.
It is more than a little ironic that you are worried about 13 year olds and drunk drivers while defending ATVs. Recently we've had a number of teenagers (and younger) severely in ATV accidents.
How many deaths or chldren injured for life will it take before some of you knot heads realize this should be banned? Since you are so concerned about children perhaps you will agree that parents need to be held accountable for these accidents, let's say child neglect or abuse.
Your concern for DWI is hilarious given that all the roads opened to ATVs are opened to connect to the gin mills. In fact that is what your "poker runs" are all about- bar hopping on ATVs- and you claim to be worried about DWI!
Nah.... you GET A LIFE instead.

Hey Crazy, good name for you. Should we have a pool on when the next serious injury, fatality, or helicopter lands to rescue one of your weekend warriors. I say this weekend what do you say.

Hey Woody, I bet your the type of person that doesn't believe the Holocust occured. There is another girl fighting for her life from an ATV accident 2 weeks ago. There is a poor man sitting in prison because he was physically and mentally assulted and yet the local law refused to intercede. After his own property was trespased and he was threatened with bodily injury did he take things into his own hands. Guess who got punished?

It happens all the time. It happened last weekend. The trouble makers you talk about are people who are sick of being assulted by your bad boy mentality that thinks they can act like maniacs because they have an ATV.

When you ride an ATV you take a gamble of getting in an accident, just like getting in your car and driving down to the local shopping center. When someone is injured in an ATV accident the people against them just use the incident as ammunition to fight the struggle with shutting down all public property to ATV's.

your argument doesn't follow. an ATV is recreation vehicle, cars require a license etc., and cars are a necessity.
the accident and injury rate is extremely high for ATVs espeically for young people. don't play apples and oranges- we know the game.

Theres lots of places all over the US that have ATV laws. People abide by them and when they don't they get arrested.
Other towns are able to make public trails and let the whole community benefit from them. It doesn't mean they are all over the place, it means they established a good working system that works for the entire community.
Its too bad everyone is too busy fighting instead of working together to come up with a suitable, economical and safe trail system.
look up trailsheaven dot com.
That area is loaded with money now, because they have taken advantage of their resources, the great outdoors.

because in Lewis county, the County and the ATV Clubs would rather break the law and grab all they can, rather than look to themselves for a solution.

the clubs should raise funds and purchase property in a remote area and create their own properly established trails.

but no, they want to ride on roads from one beer/chicken wing establishment to another, rather than propery trailer their ATVs to riding areas.

This just shows you don't know what you are talking about. They do raise money for the seniors bus, rescue equipment for fire deptment. food pantries, xams gifts for kids, adopt a hyways to pick up your trash. sent kid to summer camps, just to mention a few

Back to the point- the "Mud Fest" provided a place for ATVs to ride. They weren't satisfied with that and they rode in some streams. That's why ATVs have a bad reputation- give them a place to ride and they use it as a way to go somewhere else they don't belong.
