HUD guidelines

In Lewis Co the rental properties are too high for the income of people in the area. In addition, HUD (Hous Asst) "affordability" guidelines are too low- in other words families aren't able to rent the apts with Hous Asst help because the rent is too high. This keeps the slum lords in business, and those in poverty living in substandard housing. I don't know what can be done to help raise assistance with rent for those low or lower middle class families. Does anyone have any ideas, or can any one explain the process?

some landlords are willing to work with people who want to rent. Some will lower rent if the renter is willing to do certain things. One thing is to keep the lawn mowed or keep the area around the building kept clean. Pick up garbage or sweep walks or even hallways and stairs and such. If the renter would do that then they dont have to hire a full-time maintenance person to do that. If they can save money they pass it on to the renter. Be proactive and it can pay off.
