With the sad closure of St Josephs school in Mayfield under questionable circumstances that had produced so many fine people in Mayfield and Graves county for over 75 years, There is only one Chrisitan school left Northside school. It is a pre school- High school. The question is this are Christian schools even important to parents? Are better sports teams and a bigger school more important than having your child walk with Jesus every day? Is a bigger school bigger than Christ? Are the ten commandments worth the sacrifice? It is my view that Christian schools are better. If all Christian schools close will it have a negative impact on Mayfield and Graves County? Are all the things that Graves county or Mayfield schools offering better than having your child exposed to a Christian education? This is a question that is for those Judeo Christians of all faiths. If you are a non believer this question may not apply to you? Serious responses please, No insulting, rude or disrespectfull comments please Thank you.

A less than geniune Priest and Bishop on this topic. An Administrator who ran off parents due to her unintentional but ebrasive interactions with them along with carelessness. Super extra large egos, a lack of money, A lack of budgeting the money properly. A total apathy from the congrgation on the importance of Christian education, and last but not least zero advertising poor marketing strategies. Zero recruitment and zero aggressive advertisng showcasing the positives of a Catholic Christian education.

If this is your lame attempt at referring to the priest sex abuse scandall, I would agree it was a problem and in my view as aCatholic they ones who were guilty should have been fired and sent to prison for life many were. Again for the ones who were guilty I think it is just to send them to prison. This has nothing to do with a school and everything to do with your inmature prejuduce.

The school closed due to low the low lwvel of students. Not because no one wanted it not to run. The money was not there plain and simple. Some are just hard because they did not get there way. You can't run a school that is not government funded without the help of parents and parishners. withh attendance only being 13, the numbers just aren't going to work. Yes the principle was not great and yes a few left because of her, but the numbers still weren't there bottom line.

You can't even spell scandal correctly. What a relief to know you think child molestors should be fired. But sent to prison? I do appreciate your willingness to use a buzzword like prejudice, at least I think that is what you attempted to spell.

If a school is effective the building will be full. The fact that there was hardly any students says it all. St. Joseph was once a very good school but not anymore and that is why they could not keep the doors open. I personally think you go to church for religion and school for academics.

St Joes was very solid with academics and are you telling me that you would prefer to give your child Christian teaching only on sunday? If you had bothered to read any new stuff on Christian schools you would know that they perform beter in terms of academics once at the public school setting. As far as it being open. WE WERE NEVER GIVEN THE CHANCE TO DO WHAT WAS VITAL TO KEEP IT OPEN! WE WERE NEVER GIVEN THE SUPPORT OR ENCOURAGEMENT TO DO SO. THE CHURCH MEMBERS AND THE POWERS THAT BE ABANDON THE CHILDREN PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! THER WAS APATHEITC THINKING ON THE PART OF THE CONGREGATION AND THERE WAS CALCULATED AND MANIPULATIVE ACTIONS ON THE PART OF THE BISHOP AND THE PASTOR INTENTIONAL OR NOT. One less Christian school in Graves county is the result. How is that positive?!

Dear St Josephs church member

Thank you! You have got me. I was never good at telling a lie. On this particular site I did not start it but I could not help myself I had to respond. So yes I am the Bill on this site, Dont have a clue who the other Bills or Williams are that are on other sites except to say that my name is a common one. My feelings are very strong on this and I stand by them. I do not think that the Priest is a bad man I do not think that the principal is a bad person but I stand by the comments. I do not know what kind of man the Bishop is, time will tell. I do think that many in the congregation sold out the children of St Joes. I am sorry that I did not tell these people face to face I should have done so. again I said some people not all. Some have been very supportive. I still stand by the fact that you need to keep my name off of here. And I will do the same since I know who you are. As far as being crazy, guilty as charged. As far as being late, guilty as charged. As far as not paying my tution NOT guilty and you know that. I might have been late at times but I always paid in full. As far as the bishop and priest they probably would not be suprised that I responded to this site in this fashion. If they want to kick me out of the church they may not have to with comments like yours eariler I will probably quit and go to another church on my own, perhaps a non Catholic church, which I guess would explain my so called "Shallow theology." As far as the teachers I think they were good people but got spoiled to how Catholic children tend to behave better in a small school setting. As far as egos mine at times was just as bad as yours and others. We all wanted to keep it open as far as the board and parents and principal. We all have had different ideas on how to do that. A majority voted to do that as you know. As far as theology I would prefer to be a better Christian than Catholic not that being Catholic is bad. I guess I am becoming more non denominational. Anyway since you do not like me anyway and I know for sure who you are I will stay out of your way and you stay out of mine. As far as the school being successfull we were not allowed in my view. If you want to talk to me in person I will be glad to do so if not fine. And again thank you you have made a decision for me that has been very personal and long going much easier. GOD BLESS YOU!

William,
This person had no right to call you out by name and attack you personally. It's ridiculous. You have kids, somethimes you come in late.So what? Sometimes I do too. But the important part is that we are there. I know there are some problems at the church, big ones. But dont let this coward emabarrass you or shame you into leaving. These may be tests of faith. That person is going to sit right up there on their high horse and look down the rest of us. Let them. I'm aware of people like that, and as time passes I realize that those people dont concern me in the least. That person WILL have to answer for his/her judgemental behavior and unChristian-like actions.

Thank you. It means alot that you took the time to do this whomever you are. I absolutley know who this person is and while it is true that I am no saint which is why I go to church this move has been a long time coming. She was just the straw that broke the camals back. I am not ashamed of what I have said here about my take on what happened. I just wish I would have done it face to face I mean in large part I have but I wish I would have told them what is on here in person. I will always be a Christian but I may not always be Catholic. GOD BLESS YOU!

You know there are many parents out there that would LOVE to give their children a christian education. I am one of those parents. A good christian education is something that will influence a child in a positive way. Some families just can not afford it. It has nothing to do with feeling it is important. A good christian education cost alot of money. Too bad that people that are low income simply can not pay for it. A public education experience is free however. Suppose the lack of disipline and character are just bad side effects. Suppose there is a cost for everything even if it is not financialy.

No problem, William. It just fired me up because I know you and Rhonda and the kids have been regular at Sunday mass for years and I just cant believe how a fellow parishoner hiding behind anonymity just went at you like that. I just really wonder what would be the response from Fr. R if he saw this. I'm afraid the membership is going to continue to drift away. It's a shame that we are Catholics trying to live our faith, but there's so much rigidity and judment lately (even about the music every week!) I'm just trying to read alot and also share faith online, I feel I need more to stay an active Catholic and not fall away. Youve made such contribution to our church family, it would be a shame to lose your family. Guess I'll be the next target because I was late a couple weeks ago, or becuse my grandchild needs a quick potty break during mass. There is just much more to say on this entire subject. Best of luck to you as well
