We had out of town discerning house guests.. They loved the food in Old Stone Steak House. They thought String Bean was also good. We had lots of fun eating & playing trivia in Friends. It is quite obvious that the cranks blogging on here have never been to these restaurants.

I just went back to Old Stone after months of saying I wouldn't go back. It's worse than ever!! String Bean is always good. Discerning my ass.

Baby, I swing both ways so it's all good, but child be honest, GB ain't always good, H - sometimes it makes me gag a spoon....Old bone ain't kickin it like it used to either so don't hate the plaaayar baby, hate the "chef had an off day"...or "we fired the chef" or "the chef called in sick on the dishwasher is cooking today", whatever, whatever, still costs the same at the end of the day...

I agree. old stone has definitely seen better days, very disappointed and it has become rather dull. The food is about the same, but is overpriced and most of the patrons are old people. String Bean always pretty decent and Friends food is as underwhelming as ever. Like to drink and hang out, go to Friends. Want a good meal, go to Sammys. Want to feel like you're hanging with the 'big dogs' then go to Old Stone and pretend to know a good restaurant.

Just drive across the bridge to Charlotte. Beermont is good for a quick bite - but NOT dining.

The more people complain about a place on the Belmont Topix forum, the better it is.

People complain constantly about Friends on here, but it is always packed when I go there.

The only decent place in Belmont is Old Stone. It is a lot more expensive in Charlotte. The food is good in String Bean but it has a cold, void of all atmosphere, warehouse feel to it. Sammy's is a real good diner & they have great sandwiches. It is a noisey place with a great bar room feel. I hope everyone will continue to support these wonderful eateries. What would Belmont be like without them.

Old Stone is fair at best. Sammy's is usually good, and JAX is gone. Friends is a bar, bar, bar, and a pick up joint. So what. Old Stone is stale and overpriced, but then again, the Lavecchias are always overpriced.

1. Stop name calling.
2. Turn your caps lock key off. Typing in all caps is the equivalent of yelling.
3. Waffle House has the best breakfast in Belmont.

I prefer McDonalds hot cakes with sausage and bacon, and I think it's a little cleaner to. Waffle house is great for last stop late night visits when nothing else is open. JMHO

I agree with Disagree that McDonalds is cleaner. I'm not a big McDonalds fan, but I must say that the one in Belmont is very nice and well run.

The Aweful Waffle's cheese & eggs with hash browns smothered and covered is the bomb tho!

What is wrong with y'all. Why does it matter who owns it? Belmont is lucky to have this restaurant. If you don't like it, open up your own & see how much work it is. Meanwhile...get a life. If you live in this town you should support the businesses here, not try to ruin them. Now go to Church.

Old Stone used to have great waitresses and food. Now the food is so expensive I can't eat there and not worth the price. All the good people are gone. What a shame, I don't care who owns it either, but I heard they are greedy, rude and from NJ. No wonder.
