this motorcycle accident seems to be the fault of the rider but it seems that to many bikers are getting killed lately. There are allot more bikes on the road now and people (both cars and bikes) need to be a little more carefull. my heart goes out to all the family and friends who have lost loved ones on bikes lately.

From the WoodTV site, it shows that the man was an off duty police officer from East Grand Rapids! It is absolutly horrible. I hope that the family stays strong and they will be in my thougts and prayers as well.

How fast was he going?
What was his blood alcohal level?
Were there drugs in his system?
Does being a police officer cancel stupidity?
Police officers are not Gods... so why is the media worshiping them?

What about the poor trucker who has to live with the fact that he played some part in another persons death, he has been interrogated and had every aspect of his equipment and his life going back 8 days picked over and scrutinized. Unless there was equipment failure on the motorcycle or a medical condition on the rider, anyone who rides can tell you that control of a bike is not just "lost". if that had been an "ordinary" citizen on that bike you can bet that the article would have said ( speed appears to have been a factor and police are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before determining a cause). Any loss of life is tragic, the occupation of the deceased should not be a factor in the level of symapthy and press they recieve. My deepest sympathy to the families of both the truck driver and the law enforcement officer.

This one is very difficult for me... My brother is a trucker who also is a trucker who rides a harley to work everyday, and my son is an officer.
My condolences go the the families of both the trucker and the officer. No matter how this investigation plays out they will both need the support of their respective communities. Both were driving vehicles that take full concentration and control to keep them safely on the road, both vehicles are easily and greatly affected by surrounding traffic. We are very fortunate to have here in Michigan one of the best accident reconstruction teams. Out crime lab is one of the best in the country... Let them do their jobs, while we pray for the families involved.
