I totally agree about the drunk driving crap. That has nothing to do with this. I knew Jeff and he was a great big teddy bear that always had something nice to say to you. Something had to have snapped for him to do this but really we need to concentrate on praying for the ex girlfriend, the kids and Jeff's family and friends as this is going to be hard for everyone involved. My prayers are with you all.

I am sorry if I offended anyone by talking about Jeff, I don't agree with what he did, and I am glad that the ex-girlfriend will be ok. I just hate that he is being made out to be some sort of monster with a criminal past. I wish to god it never happened. I feel so bad for the families and everyone involved. I hate that this is how he is going to be remembered.

Sometimes people have problesm. Not everybody lives the fairy tale life like everyone else. You sometimes judge too harsh when your Achilles heal may be closer then you think.

I have a real difficult time when people say someone just “snapped”.

I believe you have to have something in your brain that would even cause you to do such a horrible thing and to cause bodily harm to someone else.

I have been through many trials and tribulations in my life and never, ever even thought about harming another human being. Of course if it is in self defense that is totally different.

Remember everyone thought Ted Bundy was a “Nice Guy” too.

I feel horrible for these young children that had to witness such a horrific crime. I am glad they are getting the help they need.

Good riddance to a BUM!
All you people defending him as such good guy. Yeah, real good guy.
You may have known him in the past for all the "good" he did but he cemented his legacy with his last act.
At least he wont be in prison taking my tax money...

Being made out to be a monster?
I think stabbing someone in a house full of day care kids and they killing yourself fits the bill.
What kind of MORON are you?

WOW! That is sad, I hope the ex is doing okay and those children are too! Too bad he had to feel in such a way to do that to her and himself. If he loved her he wouldn't have wanted to hurt her but then again you don't know what had been going on in his mind that lead up to this.

<quoted text>We do not know what happened here...we also do not know ANYTHING about either of these people and what happened. Yes, it was most definitely wrong that he did this in front of children, but obviously he snapped and something happened inside his head. I guess no one will ever know what he was thinking except him and his estranged girlfriend...it's a very sad story for everyone involved.
"It was most definitely wrong that he did this in front of children".....WOW, you mean that it would have been OK otherwise??!! I know you probably don't mean that, but, hey....read what you write before you complete the post.

You are ridiculous and sound very bitter.

You go ahead and stay at home and make brownies and play with Polly Pockets ALL DAY.

I will go to work, have a career, support my family, make brownies, AND play with Polly Pockets EVERY DAY.

Bad things can happen anywhere - do you home school your children? Or do they ride a bus to school? What if the bus driver is a pervert? No, I imagine you insist on driving them everyday... In which case, what if there's a drunk driver on the road with you? Or you hit a patch of ice on your morning run and fly out of control? What if a maniac starts shooting while you are grocery shopping or while you are at the mall? What if you give your kids Motrin that's been tampered with?

Don't be so quick to judge, an UNEXPECTED and terrible thing could happen to you or your loved ones ANYWHERE.

I live in Lowell and don't know these people but I do know that my child attends the same school as these kids and what I am mostly concerned about is the effect that it will have on these kids! Such a very sad story.

Here is what the problem is in many of these types of situations:

Police say Childs and his ex-girlfriend were in an on-and-off relationship for about a year.

The mind game of "yes, I want to be with you" then, "no, I don't want to be with you"

Because then, when one FINALLY makes the final break, and you have this:

Childs wanted to continue the relationship but she did not.

It is not mentally handled so well

I do stay home all day with my kids, they are not school age yet. When they wake up, I am there, they are sick, I am there. YOU cant say that as you sit at your desk and cruise news 8 web page WONDERING what your kids are doing right now.
I am sure the spring vacation these parents will take with the extra money will help calm the kids down after seeing a stabbing first hand.
Raise your own kids, not someone else!

And THIS is the exact mind game I am talking about:

The woman was in the house visiting Childs' relatives, who are friends of hers, when the attack occurred, police said.

I don't care if his relatives are friends of hers, she had NO business being at a place where she KNOWS full and f'k'i'n'g well the odds of running into him are great when she claimed she didn't want to see him anymore

According to the GR Press, the children are relatives of Jeff, which indicates, no, it was not a daycare
