So, with all the gloom and doom everywhere, why don't our local papers write about the truly good things when they happen? In our little town we have a defending world champion in martial arts and her dad who is fairly new to martial arts that went to California to the US National competition and team trials and BOTH QUALIFIED AND WILL REPRESENT THE United States in Mexico at the World Championships in July. The Caledonia Sun and News did a nice story. The Ledger did a 3 sentence write up and thats it. WHY? We've all watched Mariah grow up and many local businesses and individuals support and sponsor her. She gives back to the community like crazy doing fundraisers and motivational speaking for kids and women's groups and volunteers regularly. It's a good news story that we can all appreciate. And, how many father-daughter martial artists have ever made the US Team? Lets embrace and celebrate with them!
