That would have to be Aerosmith.

There are several:
Boston
J. Geils
Aerosmith (actually from NH)

There are MANY great bands with local appeal that didn't quite get national exposure.

Aerosmith was NOT from NH. Joe Perry vacationed there during the summer, while Steven Tyler did the same as his family owend a home in Sunapee.(They still do). They formed in Boston. Joey is from NY. Joe was born in Lawrence Ma. and Brad born in Winchester Ma. They started out as a Boston band all moving in together on Commonwealth Ave in Brighton. Originally Ray Tabano was the guitarist who they canned for Brad.(good move as it turns out).

So YES...AEROSMITH is a Boston band.

I really like early J. Geils. He later stuff was a tad rubbish.

The same goes for Aerosmith. Rocks is top five greatest classic rock album ever.

Yeah, they were one of my favorite bands in middle school! I loved their early stuff but I really didn't care for the stuff toward the end

Totally agree with "Rocks" being one of the best all-time. Certainly is their best. The newer stuff (which everyone considers new still is actually almost classic rock now. Permanent Vacation came out in 87' and Pump in 89') I love those albums. 9 Lives was killer as well...the Blues album was good. So I do like the "newer stuff" as well but nothing like 70's Asmith!

How about some blues bands:

James Montgomery
Blues You can Use

Aerosmith maybe....pre Permanent Vacation. Since then they have been one of the most god-awful blights on rock music's history. Steven Tyler, the 60 year old drag queen who hasn't been able to sing a lick in over 25 years, needs to go away.

They're considered a New York band because that's where the founding members are from...but since they formed at Berklee I'm considering them a Boston band.....Dream Theater is not only the greatest Boston band ever...but also the greatest band ever....and most of you have never heard of them. How sad the music scene is, 99.9 percent of the great musicians out there will never see the light of the radio day, while the utter crap populating the airwaves makes millionaires of the most untalented idiots imaginable. And the public just slops up whatever the record companies mold and force feed down your throats....

I agree about J. Geils. They evolved from a rocking blues band to bubblegum.
