Fine, please send it to me. As a taxpayer, I paid the taxes and if I get some back, then I say thank you Presiden Bush. This will pay for all of my gasoline for 6 months. Not a bad deal...

It's just an advance. You'll have to include in as income in next year's taxes. I heard it's also in the form of a loan from a foreign government, although I'm not quite sure if this is true or not(still checking). God bless the poor American children and grandchildren who'll be paying this back for generations to come.

Not true. This was true of the last stimulus package but this time around there will be no tax penalty for it.

Not speaking for or against...

Exactly! Whether you spend it or save it or invest it, it will stimulate the economy. Well, unless you put it in your mattress. It comes from taxes we paid. It is unpatriotic not to spend it to stimulate the economy. It would be almost like you wanted the economy to struggle. Who wants that? Bush bashers and belly achers. If you are worried about your kids then invest the money for them.

Yes, I do want my rebate. I just hate the thought of having to pay for it next year at tax time.....Uncle Sam sticking it to us again.

I think I am being attacked here unfairly. I think it is unpatriotic not to take the rebate and spend it. I agree it is our money. Why would you read my post some other way? Apology accepted!

To taxman from Lawrence:Are you sure? Do you work for the IRS? Who's paying for it?
I hope you're right, but I'm still skeptical.

I won't be 'stimulating the economy' with my $600-it'll go to pay real estate taxes and other bills. Who wins here? Not me, that's for sure.

Suzy, if it will make you feel better then give your rebate to charity. Won't that be a winner?

I'm going to pay a couple of bills and then take a trip to Key West with some friends. I'll feel quite patriotic having a good time in the sun with MY money.

This expenditure just increases the national debt. Who do you think pays for that??

lowering the bar,

Sometimes increasing the national debt is a good thing. If if helps me, it is good. I just filled out my tax return and I am shocked as to what I owe. I will use my rebate to pay my taxes.

Who pays for that - I do. Maybe you are one of those who doens't pay taxes?

Check out irs.gov , click on stimulus...and read the FAQ:

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.
