"How the Sisters in The Fighter Got Their Wicked-Sick Hair" by Marnie Hanel February 25, 2011.
This is a Good Read, it will bring back some memories of when Lowell's ladies all went "Buffont" or "Beehive" which I believe are the term's for the hair styles.
I thought the Sister's in the movie were just great, gave me some good laughs and did represent some Lowell people well.
If any of you have not seen the movie, please do as it's an enjoyable movie especially if your from Lowell.
If anyone hasn't seen the movie it really is a must see...If you are a Lowell native I think it captures the essence of the city and its people and made me feel good about being from a place that is so real. Here are the links for the story

Thanks for the memories. I couldn't remember the supermarkets in Cupples square for the life of me. They were actually big supermarkets in that little square. There also was a fruit market and Johnston's bakery. Also a hardware store, Huntley's Hardware. Brunelle's drug store. All the cool kids hung out there every night. Wonder what happened to all of them.

Ya know that piece re Moonglow/Picnic was a bit selfish of me for those of y'all who are not wired for dancing, but who are for more technical things. So to back-up:

1) How many steps did Kim step down to get onto the dance 'pier'?
2) Was the dance pier at: Norumbega Park on the east side of the Totem Pole? On a loading dock created for a movie on the Rio Grande on a 4th of July? At Vesper Country Club over the Merrimack? or By the Mississippi Paddleboat on the lagoon off Frontierland in Disneyland?
3) Was Kim's cocktail dress more "pink" or a "salmon" color?
4) Were Bill's jeans by Levi's or Jordache?
5) Who entranced you more in terms of 'stare time': you on Bill Holden? or you onto Kimmy?
6) What's your guess re Kim's waist size...24 or 26 and was her hair a Dorothy Hamil cut or shoulder length?
7) In those days, was the dance a little too close to the edge? In this scene, would you have given the Oscar to Bill or to Kim?

Scroll down for the answers:

Answers: OMG, Who Cares!!!.... I'm so sorry, but you are one sad puppy for caring about answers after that slooo dance! LMAO

The other one was Sure-Fine! I know, I stocked the shelves for .95 cents an hour. And, at that point in time there was Jewelry Store on the corner of Loring and Westford St.'s next was Marie's Fish/Sand Shop. Mr. Richard Prior was the manager of the First National and a staunch ol' guy he was.
Across the Street from Sure-Fine was Levine's Bridal, I got a free Tux for passing out info on Levine's at LHS. Bob, if I knew you were at Keith, I would have swung by there with some of the coupon's, did you guys have a prom??

Well, Yes and probably all month Bro....for sure, for sure I suppose...AND THAT'S OK! Maybe cuz my Sweet Rosalyn (aka I always rhymed it as Caroline) would've been Social Security eligible this February!!!if she hadn't...unthoughtfully....up and died on me about 25 years ago at 38 after only 15 years!!!

(Yo Bros (& Lady-Os)...keep checking your Lady's Boobs!!!)

No no...nobody say anything as my Rosalia was an Aquarian and would've done that 'outgoing', as Aquarians are want to do, schtick herself!

(Ha ha F-R uncommonly saying: Good'nite Ms. Kalabash wherever you are!) I love coincidences...we must be in sync some way.... as I'll say:

Hasta Luego Senora Chicana! Hoping to see ya soon!

I think we are in sync, I too suffer from love pang attack's and also thirty years ago, I did some boob checking and was able to sing "Here I come to save the day"! The lump was removed and she required no further treatment.

It looks like we both know the real meaning to "Thanks for the Memories"! Sorry to learn about Rosalyn.

WSC, Yes, I am a Highlands guy, I was associated with the Brunelle's crowd and was a regular at Tommy Gill's across from Blake's, Mrs. MacInness made great coffee frappes like no other made today. Always back & forth to Cupples Sq. with the groceries too. Later we used to hoist a few brew's at The Highland Tap which was long before I was introduced to JW-R.

You have a nice Sunday as well!

That is so cool. I use to hang out with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry when ever they came to Mr. C's Rock Palace in Lowell. One time Joe was there for his own band the Joe Perry Project. If you haven't figured it out yes they are in the band AEROSMITH. Like I said before bands from around here I hang around with was The Continentals, Curtis Knight Band and Thrust.

Does anyone remember the Flaherty Brothers Band??? Pawtucketville boys that used to kick ass around town and during the summer they rocked the house at places like the Bowery (before it was 10's showplace) at Sailsbury beach.

I think he does but it's the doubling up of those Mar-Gar-Rita's that may be causing the pang attacks! LOL...... I know JW-R can affect me that way if I don't have enough to eat.....LOL...

Everytime I think of Albur-Ker-Kee, I want to say; Ohhhhh Pauncho...Ohhhh Cisco!

OK, Trivia...... Who was given the name Diablo??? Look it up in Spanish!
