Unions pay taxes too

What Mr. Sullivan fails to point out is that unionized public sector employees pay taxes with private sector taxpayer dollars. ALL of the money used to support the public sector comes from the private sector. What public sector employees do with the money is irrelevant. The growth of the cost of the public sector is unsustainable.

I agree. We need to privatize police, fire and education professionals. Why should I have to contribute to something like a fire department? Why not charge me when I need them? Same with cops. If I don't have the money to pay for their protection, I don't get it. It's very simple. Same with education. If I can't afford to send my children to school, I shouldn't. Why should somebody else pay for my children to get an education?

So your name is buster and you're in a union.

Federal and state employee union members pay NO social security tax, and get their lavish pensions for free. They do pay taxes. However, Public Union employees benefit from those taxes in a far greater way than anyone else, so it is in their interest to pay a few dollars to get back many dollars more. Think about it,
Should Government Workers be granted a monopoly behind government guns, to force Taxpayers to deal with their MOB?
Should one group have the "right" to force individuals to "pay up" their personal property, to their monopoly MOB?
Should Union Workers have more rights than non-union workers?
We all pay taxes! Public Union workers clearly benefit more from the taxes that we ALL pay.
Public Unions are special interest groups that get paid by the people that they are negotiating with and the public union members as well as those people are paid with EVERYONE'S Tax Dollars.
For instance, in Wisconsin, we see the tail of public employee unions attempting to not only wag the dog of the Wisconsin people, but decide which road which that dog (or badger, as the case may be) will walk down.
Further evidence of the moral bankruptcy of the position of the public employee unions is that even Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn't think that they were a good idea. The guy who implemented the New Deal--who thought that Social Security was a good idea--didn't think that collective bargaining for government workers was a good idea.
Let that sink in for a minute, before continuing to sharpie the Hitler moustache onto Governor Walker's picture.
The fact is, the fundamental fact of life of organized labor is an adversarial relationship between the union, purporting to represent "the workers," and on the other side of the table, "the management."
But in a working republic based on democratic principles, the ultimate management of the government is the people themselves.
Therefore, a public employee union is by definition in an adversarial relationship with the people--or, in other words, acting in opposition to the public interest. THAT is why public employee unions should never be allowed to exist, and where they currently exist, they should be immediately disbanded.
There is a place for organized labor. There are private companies that do attempt to unfairly exploit workers. But, it must be recognized that public employee unions will always--ALWAYS develop to the point where they attempt to unfairly exploit their employers--the public. This has happened in Wisconsin, and has happened all throughout this country.
Public employee unions today are not the exploited. They are the exploiters.

That's funny. Not at all in a union. They do nothing for America but provide the right to make unnecessary demands on private business. I think we should do away with all bargaining rights. In fact, let's do away with every American's right to associate. Why should I have to subsidize my neighbor's children's education? It's not fair. It's bad enough I have to pay for police. I have my own security thank you very much.
I'm with you. Don't tread on me. I'm tired of the government meddling in my affairs. And that they're doing it with the help of organized labor is even more disgusting.

maybe you should move to Wisconsin

Yes lets go back to the good old days where workers had no rights at all. There is a reason why unions were established and untill employers treat people fairly there will always be that need. I guess the usual targets of people living it up on welfare and the unemployed are getting scarce so the newest target are real working people who dare to have the right to legally bargain for better working conditions and wages.

My Father was a hard worker, Worked in Quarry;s most of his life.
And he alway's said , Uninons are someday going to brake this country. And that was from the time I WAS 15 TILL HE DIED 7 YEARS AGO, And he was right, The States and counties are broke, Due to unions.
4men to fill a pot hole. My friend worked for the Old Band M railroad, I went to talk to him one day. And he broke a glass bottle, I went to pick it up, He said don;t touch it,
I need to call the Janitor,
It took 45 min for him to show up,
Screw the unions. yOU WERE RIGHT ON YOUR POST , YOU KNOW WHAT I;M TALKING ABOUT,

Those are good examples of things that are bad about unions but theres are also a lot of good things that unions do to help ensure that workers are treated fairly. The idea that unions ruined the country is absurd you just posted your comment about GE a multi billion dollar company that paid how much in taxes???? Who do you suppose was to blame for the financial meltdown in 2008 that caused our government to spend billions of tax dollars to save our economy? Unions or greedy white collar Wall St. types that swindled and scammed billions from hardworking Americans, you should be saying screw the greedy corporations that send our jobs overseas to be produced by children in unsafe factories for pennies per hour. Oh yea isn't that one of the reasons we now have unions is to protect people from that type of situation like back in the day in mills in Lowell? Does the "Bread and Roses" strike ring a bell with anyone?

Sorry I did not mention, Big Corparations, and Wall st.
Let;s face it the whole dam Country, Is greedy.
And that the CEO of GE, IS A GUEST OF THE WHITE H 2 OR MORE TIMES A Month. We can give Egpt 1,5 billion a year,
We can rebuild country;s,
How bout people in this country,
I don;t care if there Democrats or Rebulicans,
The whole Country is corupt,
I take it your in a union. And A Democrat.

Now we are talking....
Greed is the root of all our problems.....
The middle class workers are and have been getting screwed for years. Unions have no where near the power they once did and unless you are in a union that has a direct impact on others like the teachers , transportation or trash you really are at a disadvantage when it comes to bargaining for a new contract. It has taken over 3 years to get a new contact in one instance to wind up getting a whopping 8.5 % raise spread out over the next 3 years while doing more work with fewer people. I am registered as an independent and will vote for a republican when they start to support working people, that said the dems are not much better

You make some good points,
Here is real greed,
I love football, and there on strike,
I love Tom Brady, But look he and Manning , Are in the 18 million dollar range,
If there not in the play off's it;s 15 games,
15 games at 60 min equals15 hours,
That;s what a little more than 1 million per game,
And the ticket prices keep going up.
I'm just trying to give you an Axampel,
How every one is so greedy.
I remember about 6 or 8 years ago coffe went up 4 cents a pound,
So DD WENT UP 25 CENTS A CUP,
8 months later coffee droped 7 cents a pound,
But DD kept the same price,
You just cant stop greed.

So the service continues....for all u know if some guy would probably come and stab you if there wasn't cops or your house would catch on fire and ull have no way of puttin it out....and for your kids to be educated? you wouldn't want them to go to school and know what the hell is goin on? you want them to struggle even more? privatizing cops, firefighters, and education would be the dumbest move ever. You'll defintely see someone with a gun right next to your door if we weren't payin cops for their services and your kids will definitely be strugglin if they weren't able to get a degree....i think everyone should stop bein selfish and look at the future....if you want your kids to struggle more then that's up to you but im willin to pay my share to help your kids go to school because there's bigger things to worry about then my personal interest
